Sammies New Car

Sammie has been looking for a few months for a different car. She has had 2 VW Jettas over the last 10 years & was ready for a change. We've looked at Fiat, Honda, Mini Coppers ,Cadillacs plus a few others. I delivered a bike to a used car lot just down the road from where Sammie works the other day so I took a look around. They have high end, low milage luxury cars like Lexus, BMW & Mercedes Benz. After driving 2 or 3 we went with a 2011 BMW 328I with low miles. Got a fair trade in for the VW so we drove the new BMW home last night. Sammie is off to work now so I'll take some pics when she gets home & post them up. Now we are a 2 BMW family.

That's awesome Steve. We did the same thing a couple of years ago and went from a Honda to a Merc 250. She loves it and I am learning how to maintain it. One problem-- once you start down the German car path you can never go back.

Very nice - congratulations. Now if only VW still made the Rabbit pickup truck you could replace your work vehicle and be 100% made-in-Germany in your driveway. Although I doubt that little truck was ever able to tow anything like you need to do in your business.

Wrong!

Had an '06 325i loaded out, was a great car and fun to drive; late last year figured it was time for a new car but didn't want to spend the money for a new 328i with twin turbo........I'm missing it already!

Decided to go back to a Honda and have been happy with it, it is a far cry from the BMW and it was about 23K less-expensive.

Sold the LT earlier this year and haven't decided if I want to spend the 30K for a new GTL!

Steve did you get the sport package with your car???????? You'll love it!

Here you go, if they ever decide to sell it in the US. Should be big enough to tow bikes, and the turbo diesel should save you on fuel.

I would buy that truck in a heart beat. I really love driving the Jetta & it had zero problems in the 7 years we had it.

Brett I have no idea if it does or not right now. We were looking at a Benz to start with but Sammie did not get that warm & fuzzy feeling when she sat in it. She sat in the BMW & said this is it no need to even drive it. I did drive it earlier in the day & was really liking it also. We go home at 9:00 with it last night , ate diner & went to bed. Sammie went to work at 5:45 AM this morning so I have not even had time to open the owners manual yet.

Cool Re: Sammies New Car

Congratulations to Sammie. Hope she enjoys it.

We got Bev a 'new' car last week as well.
It's a 2013 Subaru Outback 3.6 with 12k miles. So far I am very impressed and Bev loves it, after saying she will never give up her ML430.

The Mercedes is still sitting in the driveway leaking oil . It's got 212k miles on it and every week seems like another $200 dollar worth of parts I have to throw at it. I'd hate to think what it would cost if I had to take it to the dealer every time. Just need to fix the leak and put it on Craigslist. Must admit the latest leak is my own doing because I didn't use the $25 Mercedes sealer for the oil pan. I had to drop the oil pan to replace the oil level sender, which is inside the pan. Fun job - you have to lift the whole engine 2 inches to get the pan out.

Re: Sammies New Car

Congrats to Bev.
Sammie's car is at the local BMW dealer getting all the FREE Maintenance done that comes with the original warranty. They are giving it a good once over so when we get it back it will be like a new car. They gave her a 2012 328I to drive till hers is done next week.

Talked to the Dealer yesterday, They replaced the battery, cabin air filter, wiper blades, flushed the brake fluid, tightened up various loose connections at the fuse box (what started our trouble & why we took it in) Did 3 recalls that were outstanding. Monday they will hook it up to the computer to clear any codes from the loose fuse box & reset all maintenance reminders. How much will all this cost us you ask?

Nada, nothing, zero, it is all covered under the original warranty (48 months 48,000 miles). I asked what it would have cost If we did have to pay for the service & was told over $1500.00. Sure glad we bought a BMW with warranty still left on it. We also bought a 6 year 60,000 mile extended warranty that covers everything on the car. Should have it back home Monday & Sammie can not wait as she hates the 2012 328I they gave her to drive. Said it had too many bells & whistles.

Nice choice, I have a 2011 328I Xdrive with a six speed manual transmission. No problems to date and a joy to drive. If my experience is any indicator you will really enjoy your new ride.
