Big doin's in the Village.

Time for the 27th annual Key To The Hills Rod Run and car show in Boerne.

Nothing newer than circa 1948. +/- 450 entrants. Similar to the annual CCR event, the Rod Run is put on each year with volunteer groups. In the not too distant past, Boerne had only three small motels to offer entrants a place to stay and a parking area for the cars overnight, so many folks stayed over in San Antonio. Now, with our recent growth, and a good economy (Boerne has 16 banking institutions for the village and surrounds!!), four additional national chain, large room-count motels are enjoying a great business environment and the 800 to a 1,000 Rod enthusiasts can stay in the village overnight and show and shop locally.

So, if your calendar is open this weekend, come on over. It's a free car show - many of 'em hand built and displayed so attendees can admire 'em up close and personal.

Rats! I would love to attend that but am doing the rain dance at Zilker park all weekend. I'll have to keep an eye on it in the future.

I'll ping you earlier next year, Benny. You'd enjoy the show. Entrants love interacting with the public, and the guided, organized, venue display arrangements for the cars make that a real easy activity.
BTW - the rain gods are lurking around this year's event, so an umbrella might be called for!

Re: Big doin's in the Village.

Dick, two weeks ago there was a Rat Rod and bike show here in our little town. Lots of "rust buckets" that would run like a scalded ape. Most of them came in from San Antonio.
I have to say, looking at the cars that are already finished and sparkly clean are better looking then the ones whose motors are fixed but the rest of the car needs everything.

Yup - a few came in here too. They've always had a presence and you'd be surprised how many folks have a Diamond and also a Diamond in the Rough!!
BTW - thanks for taking the time to chat with my good friend Bill, who is running the Texas Rally next week and starting in your 'hood. He wuz whelmed by your generous offer. Best always, Michael.

Sure, no problem. I am still looking for one on his route so he doesn't have to double back.
