Cool bye, bye BMW

As a few of you know, I no longer have a BMW. I traded my LT trike for a 2015 Canam Spyder RT Limited. After Lone star was sold, the new dealer told me they would not work on my trike--not even change the oil or other routine maintance. They said "your deal was with Lone star and we will not honor it". So since I don't like to do my own work on my bikes, I now have a Spyder which I love and a dealer a mile from my house.

I still plan to attend CCR. I think they will let me in. Barb and I attended Spyderfest in Springfield, MO. Over 1500 attended--over 1000 spyders.

My password still worked on the LTnet site. So I'll visit from time to time.

Eric

Re: bye, bye BMW

Eric,

Congrats on your Spyder! I think you will enjoy it.

The new BMW dealership ideas have hurt them more than they can imagine. I dealt with Lonestar from 2000 up to when they sold out to the big box store. Robert and Peter knew what they were doing and ran a REAL motorcycle shop. I am looking to buy a new RT soon but you can bet it won't be from any of the Big Box dealers or Shreveport. I may have to travel to find one.

Calm winds, smooth twisty roads, and sunny days!

Eric, glad you are still out there. Best of luck with the Spyder. They are one fine looking machine.

Did you buy the Can am from one of Woods other stores? Did you sell the LT or trade? Hope you haven't left for Monterrey yet

Re: bye, bye BMW

This is a sad thing, I think BMW is selling bikes to folks who keep them for 2 or 3 years and sell them. Prices are well north of 20 grand now on the big bikes. A different world. I too have ridden the brand for almost 50 years but probably will only buy used now or just keep what I have running if possible. I can't justify my love for riding at the prices I'm asked to put out, the teeter totter has tipped for me too.
The new, well almost new but now accepted three wheelers make it possible for many people to keep enjoying the hobby. And, make it available for folks who can't ride a 2 wheel machine for whatever reason. I like it. I hope your new machine takes you to many fun places.

I change your tires $50, you buy them on the web.

David, he traded the LT with the Buchtec trailer in on it at Killeen Power sports. As he said Killeen Power sports is about 2 or 3 miles from his house.

Keep us posted on the Can Am Eric. Lots of new options coming for those who want the feel but not the balance issues. You're always welcome here and at any RTE we can stir up. Brothers are brothers no matter what they ride.

Re: bye, bye BMW

Got the email to change my password. Did it. So I guess I'm still "in". Don't have 1000 miles on the Spyder yet. Signed up for the IBA big as Texas Party at the end of September 2016. Hope I get in some more riding before then. We trailered the spyder to Springfield and only rode a few miles--spent most of the time and a lot of money with the venders!

Hope to make an RTE sometime.
