Need a Realtor in Central Texas

With all the career changes in my life in the last month Sammie & I thought it was time for another major change. We have owned our home in Austin for 20 plus years and payed it off 5 years ago. Completely remodeled it inside & out over this time. When we bought this house of the 13 homes in our cul-de-sac only 2 were rental property. Now only 3 are owner lived in homes.

We are now needing a good Realtor to sell our home & find us another one in the Georgetown Area. If anyone here is or knows a good one we would love their info also.

In addition to info you'll receive here, you might check out Angie's List for reference. And check with some of the HCBMWR folks who are USAA members - they may have a referral list that is available by geographic location. Good luck.

Boy Stevie, when you make changes, you go all in!!! It's been 23 years since we used a Realtor, but Linda Graves was very good. I highly recommend her. She's with Remax now. It says she specializes in Round Rock, but I'm sure that if she doesn't know Georgetown any more (it has grown a lot) she can link you with someone good there. Here's her contact info> RE/MAX of Texas - Linda Graves

Wow! This is really a change, Georgetown that's so far away but it's just the right distance for a good ride. We didn't use a realtor someone we both know wanted to save the realtor cost.

It looks like we might be going south toward Kyle & not Georgetown. After looking at price for size of homes, Tax rates and a few other things The Kyle area will give us more bang for our bucks. Plus our grandkids will be moving that direction early next year.

Re: Need a Realtor in Central Texas

Thanks for all the PM's with realtor info everyone. Sammie & I have our realtor and will be signing the paperwork tomorrow to have our New House built at the Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle Tx. It will take 6 to 7 months to build so we have a few months to get our home ready to sell next spring. I've rehung a few doors already that were misaligned, tore out the tub & wall tile in the guest bathroom to upgrade. Still have to replace the utility room doors on the back of the house & repair the dry rot on the shed. Once this is all done I will paint the house as needed so we can get the most money when we sell.

Ok things are progressing slowly as we knew they would. The City of Kyle is very slow to approve the permits but we should be braking ground by the end of the month or early December. We have an appointment at the Design Center on Nov 30th to pick out all of the inside things like paint. granite, cabinets & such.

We are having a 16 foot X 10 foot cover patio added on to the rear of the house.

Here's a few pics of the model home. Ours will look very similar to it on the inside as far as granite & cabinets go.

Re: Need a Realtor in Central Texas

Well it has taken a few months but about 2 weeks ago they finally poured the slab on the new house. Yesterday I got an E-Mail from my builder asking about some of the specials things we wanted done & if I could come down today to talk to the general contractor about it.
To my surprise when I pulled up there was a house there. Well the outer walls & roof anyway.

Here are the picture from today.

Re: Need a Realtor in Central Texas

Time for another update....
As of Friday we have a full price contract on our old home. The new home is coming together nicely. We went be to take a look to find it has been painted (major color not trim) inside and out. All of the cabinets are installed and from the looks of things they are preparing to install the flooring. We will have tile in most of the house with hardwoods in the master bedroom & carpet in the 2 guest bedrooms. I'll get some pictures tomorrow when I do back to see the contractor. The house was locked up yesterday so we could not get into it for pics. We are hoping to be in the new house by the end of April or early may. An investor bought our old home with an April 8th closing but will let us do a "Lease Back" on it till the new one is ready. This way we only have to move 1 time.

Re: Need a Realtor in Central Texas

Well that time has finally come. We do the main walk throughout this Monday May 2nd. If everything goes well, meaning not too many things that need to be fixed/addressed we will close this Friday May 6th. If there are too many thing to do the closing will be pushed to Monday May 9th. We expect everything to be good with the walk through since I've been on top of things. I've been going to see the house every Friday and letting Brad (builder) know what needs to be fixed. Sammie & I went yesterday and saw a couple of small thing that will not take more then a hour or so to fix. We have the movers set for Tuesday May 10th and have to be out of our current house on May 13th. If we close May 6th (Friday) we will have time to install some ceiling fans, new lights and the new farm sink in the kitchen before we move in. This way I'm not installing things while we are trying to unpack.

here is a pic of the house all painted. We love the colors we picked and the red door pops. Still need to do the landscaping but that should be done next week.

The walk through well flawlessly as i knew it would. There is some paint touchups and a few minor repairs but should all be done by end of day tomorrow. We have a confirmed closing on this friday the 6th at 10:00 am with a finial walk throughout just before we sign and pay for the house of course. The electric is set to be turned on & water , garbage will have to be done on Friday. Time warner was as the house when we left today making sure they are ready to go.

That will happen fairly fast as we want to show off outrNew Digs, I've got about 2 days worth of upgrades to install a soon as we get in. You know ceiling fans, lights, facets, garage door opener, new door locks, blinds, farm sink, Etc. Getting rid of all the builder grade stuff. To have the builder do these upgrades would add 10 grand to the cost house. I can do it for under 4K.

35 miles south from the old house. But a world away from all the hustle & bustle of Austin. Austin has 1,000,000 people where Kyle has 35,000.
Sammie & I both grew up in small towns and it's going to be nice to go "home" again.

BTW as always if any on my friends from BMWLT/K1600Forum are passing though central Texas and need a place to rest we always have room.

Congrats on the new digs and all the best for an uneventful move. We moved 13 times during my 30 year corporate career, so we know a little about the stress that moving can create!

Re: Need a Realtor in Central Texas

Well things went better then I expected. The movers spent 10 hours moving us from start to finish. They used a 32 foot goose neck trailer and it was packed tight. Sammie & I had to rent a U-Haul trailer to bring down her green house and all her plants. That was 2 full, packed loads and took all day yesterday. I'm glad to have that part of the move behind us but still have a some stuff in storage. Thankfully the storage unit is less then 1/4 mile from the new house. I should be able to move it all over in 1 day but we have till the 4th of June to be out of it so we can get everything unpacked here first.
