My apologies for being absent for so long. I was busy riding
It seems that there is always time to get on Facebook since my kids and many of my friends are there. But I have neglected this and a few other sites I usually participate in.
I have been riding almost non stop since May. The variety of places to see in Europe is incredible. I have been to many by now, but there are so many more
So far this year: Serbia, Kosovo, Macedonia, The Greek mainland, Crete, Albania, Bosnia, Montenegro, Croatia, Germany, Poland, Holland, Belgium, UK, and France.
Unfortunately during the trip to Crete the second gear on my R1100RT decided to quite completely, it had been sporadically jumping out. Since I could not come up with a feasable repair solution I kept riding for about 2,000 miles without 2nd gear. Quite interesting in the steep mountains of Albania. But it worked out ok.
I found a pristine R1150RT with about 20,000 miles in Germany and grabbed it. Great bike
I have already added about 3,000 miles on it. "My mechanic" has now accumulated the used parts to convert the R1100RT to a later model 6 speed. Its quite involved, but he has done it before and I trust him. The 5speed trans is the weak point anyway.
So, soon I will have two well running bikes. If one of my "old" riding buddies (you know who you are) wants to come to Europe for a late summer, early fall ride, here is your chance. Eventually I will have to sell one bike, and will sell the one that I can sell first since they both do the job just fine.
Greetings from Budapest, Wolfgang
