Austin Texas

Planning on riding next week from Indiana to my Nephews in Austin. Will arrive on Memorial day. Will do mostly interstate. My question is for the Texas Folks, I know your getting a lot of rain and am I going to have clear sailing or will high water be an issue?

Re: Austin Texas

Expect a LOT of rain with some possible flooding in places. We are have the wettest Spring in the last 10 years right now with no end in site. A new system is moving in this weekend with 1 to 4 inches predicted depending & what part of central Tx thou are in.

Weather here changes a lot. Yesterday at the IBMC national at Lake McKinney it was 88 degrees, This morning when I left it was 59 degrees. You pays yo money ad you takes yo chances. Come on down, the roads are clear and just washed.

There's a lot of construction on I35 so be prepared for delays. Usually there's no real danger of standing water on the interstate except during a downpour, but be vigilant, storm drains get blocked during construction sometimes. Re: LEOs they are looking for speeders and gang activity. On an LT with ATGATT your chances of being stopped are minimal.

If you're wearing Banditos or Cossacks gear, plan on doing a lot of explaining.

Re: Austin Texas

If you don't already have one buy a Camelbak or clone. Necessary in Texas.

Re: Austin Texas

Went real good. Was stuck at Rest Area about 50 miles from Austin at a round 4 on Memorial day. Was only time I got wet. Waited out worst of rain but still had very wet ride into town. Cut my trip a little short and glad I did as I30 flooded in Dallas that Thursday. May do it again sometime when the weather is on my side. Good luck with next blast of rain.
