First of all, congratulations on the new scoot! I hope you will be very happy with it.
Let's see if it's the same as on the R1200RT wethead I have. Here's what my filter and wrench look like. Take a look at the filter on your bike and see if it has the same number. I'm betting it does but probably lots of folks will chime in and verify.
The filter has 14 flats on it. As you can see from the second photo it's nominally a 3 inch / 75 mm size.
Ride safely and enjoy your new ride!
PS: There's a way to paste in larger sized photos but it remains a mystery to me. If you click on the thumbnail it will display it in a larger size and be easier to view. Sorry for any inconvenience.
I had read others stating that the oil filter on the 1250 is the same as the one on the wethead. BBY is still the best place to get it, and don't forget the code BMWST or BMWMOA to get 10% off. You have lots of time to confirm this before you will be needing one anyway!
I use the Hiflofiltro HF160RC because I like having the end that mates with a 17 mm socket. I also like the convenience of Amazon prime shipping.
I used this filter on my 16 R1200RT and currently on my 19 R1250GS. I can't speak about the R1250RT.
I now see the end nut on the filter in the photos above. I don't see confirmation of this nut on the BBY photo or description but based on the part number, it is likely there.
Price appears similar once you play the discount game so it probably comes down to retailer preference.
