New RT on the way ?????

Was just flipping through some websites and this caught my eye. Sierra BMW has listed they are taking orders for BMWs soon to be released R18 and then they listed they are taking orders for the 2020 R1300RT M . Anyone know about this ? I Googled it but nothing comes up.

Re: New RT on the way ?????

Could this be a typo?
I haven't found anything about a R1300RT anywhere and I would be surprised if there was one since BMW just came out with the 1250.

R18 makes sense though

If you can park it, and not turn around to admire it before walking away, you bought the wrong one.

Re: New RT on the way ?????

Numerous BMW dealers are getting customers' interest in the R18, whatever it will be and whenever it will show up.

Seems premature to me. Besides, I love the RT. It does not need another 50cc.

Re: New RT on the way ?????

Local dealer salesman here in StL said last week people have put down deposits already on the R18. If Sierra made a typo they did it 3 times. I too would agree it seems funny since they just came out with the 1250 just a year ago. Salesman here also said the owner was at dealer meetings last week in Kalifornia.

Wake me up when they announce ALL of the features of our beloved RTW but at 525lb fully fueled w/ empty side cases. I'd definitely be interested that.

Re: New RT on the way ?????

I am very sure that the R1300RT is a typo or simple clerical mistake. It seems that the 2020 R1250RT is now available for order. Prior to my recent look, only the 2019 model year was on the Motorrad website for custom configuration, but now, it's the 2020. I was hoping that the 2020 would have some new features over the 2019 model year, but it's not to be! I will place my order in a couple of months, so that I will have it for the early spring. Don't know what color yet.

Ha! We said that about the Oilhead, then the Hexhead, then the Camhead, then the 1200 Wethead.
Nearly all of us become intoxicated with the extra ooph.
Interesting news cam through for Europe, that the EU (including UK) from 2023 (I think) new cars will come with speed limiters. How these devices will be incorporated I don't know. But for sure, we are all slowly becoming sterilised, so we won't need big bikes 'cos they will offer us nothing usable.

Re: New RT on the way ?????

There are reports that BMW will be extending its "M Series" designation to their motorcycle division.

https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/b...e-motorcycles/

BMW has long marketed M series automobiles, which include higher horsepower motors and other suspension upgrades. And, of course, it costs more.

Perhaps an R1300RT "M Series RT" is coming?

The R18 is that silly bike they just came out with...though I don't think it's a production bike.

Those who say that it can't be done shouldn't interrupt those who are doing it.

If the R18 isn't a production bike, lots are going to be disappointed, because BMW in Europe are taking deposits and have two models to sell.

It looks like a cross between a Harley Davidson and a 1960s Hoover vacuum cleaner... Though a Harley has the dirt bag on the outside!

There has been a more or less official rumor for a while about the "M" series bikes. A 1300 cc boxer would fit that description. Usually the M cars have a larger more powerful engine along with many other upgrades.

I really think the move to the 1250 currently is too small a draw. I would need a lot more than what is being offered over my 2017.

At my age, too, the 1250 may be my last new BMW motorcycle. My next new vehicle, if any, will likely have four wheels, like my current Subaru and F-150. Although a manual-shift sports car would be nice.

I know! You may recall that I had said the same thing when the 1250s were first announced. However, since then, I had faced the fact that, at my age, this next bike will most likely be my last bike, and so I figured that I WILL get the 2020 1250RT.

Me too, but I'd rather see it thru better P:W at my age and waning strength. To put it in perspective a fantasy BMW T1000GT equipped just like RTW for ALL attributes beyond the telelever and boxer engine at 520lbs wet w/ 118hp (eg, Kaw Versys 1000) w/ belt drive will outperform an R1250RT at 615lbs.

Re: New RT on the way ?????

Personally, I would have been interested in a M RT. As long as it wouldn't take a big hit in fuel range.

But, I have a new Kubota BX tractor on order. It's going to be a few years before I want to make payments on a new bike. Fricking tractor fully loaded for my winter work will cost more than a fully loaded RT! But I'm going to love it.

The BMW Motorrad demo truck was at BMW Motorcycles of Burbank a couple of weekends ago and I'm pretty sure it was the 2020 S1000RR on which I saw an //M badged seat. At the Progressive Motorcycle Show in Long Beach last Friday I think I may have seen another bike with an //M seat as well.

I didn't see anything completed tarted up or with different engines to make it an //M edition, though.

Re: New RT on the way ?????

Could be BMW would do with motor like they did with the new F750GS & the F850GS. They both have the same size motor. The 750 make less HP than 850. Maybe they would turn up the motor on the RT and call it 1300 ..... could be the 1300 would get the TFT cluster you all have been looking for along with some other stuff.

IMHO, the "M" badge is just a nomenclature change to be consistent with the BMW car nomenclature! The "M" badge will replace the present "HP" badge for the BMW bikes.

I suspect the R13 will be right behind it. Seems BMW is on a roll with the M department working on bikes now.

Talked to local dealer owner today about the RT M. He didn’t know about the RT but he is hearing the same rumors. M series bikes are on the way for sure. R18’s too. He said BMW is making him set up a special area to display them.
