Surprised - Top Case Smaller

I just purchased a 2019 1250RT about 2 weeks ago and they threw in a free top case.
It arrived yesterday and I put it on the bike. I can't even fit one helmet in it let alone two, the height is too short.
I had a top case on my 2010 and had no problem putting two helmets in it. They both appear to be about the same size case so I'm a little disappointed that they won't fit. Anyone else have this issue?

Surprised - Top Case Smaller

I have the 28 litre top box, with maybe gloves, and something else small, it can fit a full size NeoTec

My large size FF helmet won't fit vertically in my topcase. It's too tall, I can't close the lid. The only way I can fit it is sideways. However I can fit two FF helmets sideways in there.

Ride safe!

Yeah, the helmets have to lay on their side. New case is not as tall, but a bit wider. Both the wife and I use Icon helmets. We can put my large and her small in the top case. But only on their sides. My helmet won't fit upright. Hers is a small and will fit, but only if you turn it just right.

I've heard you can't fit 2 helmets when you start getting into that XL area of helmets.

Thanks for the suggestion. My Shoei GT Air fits either way no problem. The HJC modular won't fit vertically and would probably fit if I laid it down but right now has intercom mounted on the side which is just enough to keep it from closing. Guess that's why the give you two side cases.

My Schuberth C4 fits on its side, but only if I remove the carpet.

For one helmet I can usually fold the carpet back (in half). But now I generally put helmets in the side cases or lock them to the bar end.

I fit two Schuberth C3 pros inside, next to each other and upright. It must because they are 58/59s

There are two sizes of BMW top cases -- 49 liter (large) and 28 liter (small). Here they are:

Re: Surprised - Top Case Smaller

I am guessing they gave you the 49 liter large case with the brake light ? If they gave you the 28 liter one take it back.

Yes, I got the larger case with the brake light. Looks nice, just wish it had 1 more inch inside. Since I got it for free, I guess I can't complain.

Same as mine..I can fit 2 helmets. Take the carpet out. Makes a small difference but enough...for me.
