BMW R100RT Panniers.

Hi I have a 1990 BMW R100RT with the chrome pannier brackets fitted but no panniers. Would someone know what BMW panniers fit these brackets. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Obviously keep an eye on ebay. Set up a daily search and you will get an email whenever they a listed. Also, There are search engines for Craigslist that will do the same thing and can be set up to watch several locations at once, I think even entire states. This may sound even weirder but I have seen some very rare stuff on Etsy. If it finds your panniers it's worth a try. Good luck.

Is this the only forum you have asked this question on? If so, there may be much better forums to ask about with regard to Airhead parts.

Re: BMW R100RT Panniers.

Welcome Peter,

As I recall, the R100RT got the newer "System Cases" when it went to the monoshock in about 1988 or so. Similar or possibly identical to what was used on the K series. The earlier airheads, prior to the change used the old samsonite style luggage. I had a 1990-ish K75 with the system cases.

Here's a pic of a 1990 R100RT and my very dirty K75 on a tour, you can see the similarity:

Here is a possible forum to join. Plenty of info beside cases. Best of luck and watch out for those brakes.

Re: BMW R100RT Panniers.

I'll second the "not the best place to ask" from the posters above.

That said, the 'bags that fit your bike are simple and easy to change. If you find two bags that aren't a set you can easily change the locks so they match and, possibly, key them to your ignition key. Here is a quick look at how you'd do that.

Great old bike, enjoy it.
