Shinko 009 Raven

I've got 6400 miles on my Shinko Raven rear tire that I paid $95 for from Ravzilla. If I get another 1000 miles out of it I will match what I got from my Michelin Pilot Road 4 which I paid over $200. On the road 4 I ran 41 lbs of air and the Shinko I run 38. It seems to me that 41 psi is the max rated pressure and I'm 150 lbs and ride alone with bags and top box so I don't think I need to run max pressure. Anyone else getting more miles on their tires by not running max pressure and putting more rubber on the road?

Re: Shinko 009 Raven

Hi Bob,

Rght now I have a shinko verge on the rear and a shinko raven on the front. Started with the set of Ravens but had a flat on the raven rear and replaced it with the verge. Ive got about 6000 on the front and 2000 on the rear.. Front and rear still both look new.

Re: Shinko 009 Raven

It looks like I'm stuck with 7 to 8 thousand miles on my tires. I ride a lot of back paved roads and like the narrow ones. But the speed on those roads I usually only run 25 to 45. On the main roads I will run the speed limit plus 5 mph or so and I don't take off fast. I also see that the Shinko is not GT which as far as I can tell means it has a thinner side wall.

Re: Shinko 009 Raven

I ran these on my FJR and had 4500 miles on them before I sold the bike. They were wearing very well and I easily could have doubled that. I picked up the front and rear for $150 shipped from MotorcycleCloseouts but lately they have not had any in stock. I would run them on the RT.

2011 Yamaha FJR (sold)
2016 Yamaha Super Tenere ES (sold)
2008 Yamaha Zuma (wife's ride but I maintain)
