Hummm. Maybe not so sad. Rare as hens teeth for my old girl. Can you send me a few pics of the lids and then perhaps ill see if your price for the lids and shipping is prohibitive. Couldnít hurt to see thanks Phil. You can pm me here, or [email protected].

If you get no joy with 041100S on the BMWST forum, let me know and I will get mine photographed.

Humm you spying on me? Lol, kidding. Thanks for the reply. Still in contact with 04100S. His lids look pristine and just checking on shipping cost. If its a go then will next need new hinges or??? What did you do when changed over to to larger bags?

I use the original hinges. The rivets are drilled out of the original lid section and replaced with (for me) socket cap bolts. Internally I used to use 'nylok' nuts, but then for ease of installation, made up a nut plate. These are really useful because it means you don't need to faff around with spanners. Bear in mind that the pannier security has (very) marginally been compromised inasmuch-as the pannier lids can be accessed from the underside by removing the 4 bolts. However, pannier lids are that flimsy, they are only a visual deterrent only. Let's face it, a pry-bar will pop these babies open in no time at all!
If you don't know what a nut plate is, it looks something like this:

I have a pair from my 2005. Small crack in one but otherwise good condition.

Re: City Lids anyone?

Got it. I had city lids on an old KGT, newer style bag. Yes they are flimsy so i made up some internal bracing of sheet abs and hot glued them on. Nice idea about the nut plate. If the deal goes thru Iíll use it. Phil

Your 2005? wasn't that a 1200? they look like 1200 lids. If so they don't fit the 1100/1150.

The City lids are flimsy, but they seem to cope amazingly well.
