Changing display between Miles and Kms

Hi Guys,

I'm sure this question has been asked many times before but......on a 2014 R 1200 RT how do you change the motorcycle display from miles to Kms. I'm shortly going on a trip to France and whilst its easy to change the GPS to Kms I wanted to change the motorcycle display also.

Cheers

David

Re: Changing display between Miles and Kms

I have a UK sourced 2010 RT, she now lives in Belgium.

I use virtually exclusively the GPS as a speedometer. Mainly because the MPH markings are almost useless, and the KPH marks are completely useless.

When I make the rare trip back to the UK, I just switch the GPS back to MPH and continue using it.

So far, the only time I have ever received a speeding ticket is when I have misjudged the current speed limit.

Is there a reason other than habit that you would like to switch the clocks? - (I hope they are an LCD screen)

Best regards
Sleuth

I don't know if similarities between my 2012 and your 2014 are in order but the only way I can select between miles and kilometers is by using a GS911 or the dealerships factory computer.

Re: Changing display between Miles and Kms

You might be able to do it with an ELM327-compatible OBD-II scanner and the MotoScan app on an Android device...cheaper than a GS911.

Dealer did mine. You can't do it yourself without something to program the bike so choice is dealer or GS911

Re: Changing display between Miles and Kms

Okay, some of you guys say it's possible to switch it with a gs-911. I know it can be done by the dealer but that's not very convenient. I would like to be able to do it myself when I plan to cross the border. I have a '16 RT LC, just like the OP's bike or almost alike.

I've looked into all the menus/options in my gs-911 app on my windows 10 laptop while plugged in and can't find it.
Where did you find that option? A screen capture or two would be appreciated.

Thanks

Here you go. It's under Tools header at top of screen.

I found that I can select miles or Km in the tools/options submenu but so far it seems to only apply to the app, not the bike's display.
In the functions chart on the hex website, the instrument cluster function for the r1200rt lc says coding is for future development.
