Rear crash bars

Has anyone ordered and tried them ?
eBay

They come from Poland . Can be ordered on eBay for $210.00 + 40.00 shipping.
So $250 is cheaper the the ilium bars at $375.00 + shipping. Also that are mounted different. I do like the fact that the ilium can be removed easily, sometimes I will ride without the rear cases on.
Thanks

Re: Rear crash bars

Looks like they would interfere with passengers.

I use Iliums -- http://www.iliumworks.com/BMW_Motorc...30-850&pID=132

Re: Rear crash bars

i have HEED bars in the front and the rear. the rear is fine, no interference to the passenger's footing, my wife never complains, even when asked. the front, it does scrap... if i had known that it scrapes while cornering, i'd have thought twice about buying them... (do i corner hard/low? not really. do i scrap footpeg on most bikes? yes)

i do not know what types of protection it has, never dropped it. (knock on wood)

fyi, i bought mine from HEED thru ebay back in 2016... i paid less then what they are going for now. i think HEED got some popularity from bmw owners now...

I have the ilium bars both front and rear. After looking at their video the choice was obvious. Nothing is going to protect against a regular highway speed moving get off, but dropping the bike at little or no speed is far more likely anyway. Cheaper than the deductible and 3 years of increased insurance premiums. Just my $.02.

Re: Rear crash bars

I fitted Illium on my 1250 a couple of weeks ago. They are expensive, but very well made. Reasoning, they don't impact my pillion, who is short, plus they are dead easy to remove, which is a bonus as I only have a small garage, so when I have two bikes in it, I take the rear bars off. I am off to Scotland for a week next week, so will find out if I manage to ground them

Re: Rear crash bars

Just installed the Illium bars (cylinder and panniers) on my "New" '18 RT. Read the directions, watched the video a couple of times and had my iPad in the garage as well. Sweet install even with my recent wrist surgery!

Just follow the torquing direction in sequence for the front bars.
Rears were ezzy-peezy!

I fitted the Wunderlich bars which are similar. However, they impede access to the exhaust bolt if you need to remove the back wheel. I recently removed the rear wheel to fit a new tyre but had to disassemble the bars partially to gain access to the exhaust bolt. A bit of a fiddle but I now carry the appropriate tools to do this on the road.

The older you get, the more you know and the less you need.

Re: Rear crash bars

My son purchased some Heed bars for his R1200GS, they were full front bunker and are really nice. No idea how they hold up in a crash but I'd assume like any other.
They are heavy, not some type of electrical tubing bars. I would think the rears would be just as quality. My son's bars came packed well, so no scratches.
