Factory integrated Nolans

Anyone try the Nolan flip ups with the JM headset integrated at the factory. I am looking to try the X-Lite, the XXL N102E fits my melon head fairly well, but was not 100% sure of long distance comfort. Any comments on the quality or fit of the factory integrated sets would be helpful. If you have not seen them here is the link.

I don't have the integrated headset, but I have to believe they do a better job than any of us can do.

As for Nolans in general, I love my N100E. As does the wife. And my friend finally found a helmet that she can wear all day comfortably in the N102E. She hated her HJC.

I bought the Nolan N100E from J&M and had them install the headset. I was very pleased with the installation and the folks at J&M were good to deal with. Fortunately, I had tried on the Nolan before purchase and found I had to go up one size larger than normal for me (XL to XXL). The XL hurt my ears and was rather tight overall. I must have some sort of odd shaped melon.

As for the sound, don't expect stereo quality from the system. I have an '03 with the factory built in intercom system. I have tried the high end J&M headsets in several different helmets (both open face and full coverage). Just don't expect it to sound like the stereo in you home or even from your Walkman.

The flip open feature on the Nolan is nice. It's good to be able to flip it open at stop lights or at gas stops. The cam lock chin strap mechanism is also quite good.

I did order the retrofit kit for the external sun visor. After riding with it for a week or so, I took it off and went back to the sunglasses. Problem is that when you flip open the shield (as I often do in hot weather), you lose your sun screen. I'm not 100% sure they thought that feature through very well. It also scratched by clear visor a bit and I was always touching the clear shield and leaving finger (glove) prints on the clear shield when raising the sun visor. Now that the sun visor has been removed, I am pleased with the Nolan overall.
