Summer boots with excellent protection

I'm starting to collect information on botts with excellent protection that have some kind of air flow so that I can use them during summer temps, 90-110F.

Is see perforated boots and "air flow" on Sidis, intake vents in te sides.

What has been your experience with either types of cooling schemes?

Oh. I do not want water proof boots.

Re: Summer boots with excellent protection

Do a google of BMW Sneaker 3 boots.

These boots are comfy and your feet stay cool. A couple of years ago I was looking for a new pair of boots and was ready to order a pair of $450.00 riding boots that a riding buddy uses and that I tried and were also very comfortable. We stopped by Gateway BMW in St. Louis and as a latch ditch effort started trying on all their shoes and they were all killing my feet. Then I saw these Sneaker 2's. I tried them on and man oh man did they feel good. My wife and riding buddy and his wife thought I was crazy buying something as stupid looking as these boots. I bought them and went ahead and put them on when we got on the highway I could feel the air being pushed through the boots. Needless to say I love these things and guess what, the three people that thought they were stupid looking now own a pair. My riding buddy last year got a pair of the Sneaker X's which look like tennis shoes. Over the summer I tried on a pair of BMW Air Flow boots which kind of resemble the Sneaker 3 but in a slip-on style but they were not comfortable at least for me.

Re: Summer boots with excellent protection

I think I've gone thru about 100 pairs of boots over the years.

I have the sidi air's with the external protection (B3 model maybe, can't remember, 300 bucks retail). I use them on the K1300S in the summer while I was commuting between socal and phoenix every weekend. They are not very comfy and actually hurt a bit at times, but I wore them anyways.

Recently I got the BMW all around boots. No perfs but I think they are just about as cool as the sidi's on the sport bike, noting that boots are more exposed to radiant heat from the pavement. If you ride the desert you know what I mean, it can get nasty at 115+.

I like the BMW boots for fit much more than the sidis, which i wore for years (probably did about 5 pairs of those). Luv the looks of the sidis (the waterproof model that you can wear to work, with the internal armor) and people at work tryed to steal them from me. they just ain't that comfy, for me, I gave em up (still use the perf's I have but probably won't buy sidi again).

One more thing on those perfs I have, the are even more uncomfy on the LT than the KS, I owned both bikes and used the perfs on both, ooouuuccchhh on the LT. Its probably just the way they fit me, I don't have italian tootsies I guess The new line of sidi's is awesome too, sniff...

Re: Summer boots with excellent protection

During the summer, with temps over 105, many times when I'm headed across or thru town, I'll have to stop some place, with AC, for 10 or 15 minutes, to let the soles of my boots cool off.

OK, I'll add my 2cents.

TCX Air Tech Gore-Tex

Great boots with a wide toe box. Very comfortable to walk around off the bike. These are my year round boots from temps in the 20's to 100+. The change I make is the socks. For low temps it's wool hiking socks. For high heat summer, believe it or not but bamboo thread knee high dress socks work great.
