Widder vest quit working

I have a widder electric vest that just quit working. The last few months, it developed a hot spot around the plug(on my left belly). Should I buy another Widder, or another brand?

Widder as a company is no more. Basically, they have retired and closed shop. I do know the guy who has taken over all of Widder's spare parts and old stock: I can put you in contact if you like.

However, I suggest you look at the Warm & Safe products. I've been very happy with mine over the past 4 years and 140K miles.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Re: Widder vest quit working

Thanks for that. I checked the Widder website yesterday and it seemed defunct. They had a link to Iron Butt. If I get a new one, I'll go with a different brand. I have an old BMW vest that I only used a short time because the *@%*! plug broke. I am going to try again to fix that. Fortunately it's starting to warm up, so there's less of a rush. I looked at the Warm and Safe site, their stuff seems too complex with the controller that needs to be hard mounted on the bike(and is kinda pricey).

Warm & Safe has a hard-mounted controller, but they also have a cheaper portable controller too. And yes, it can be a bit pricey, but if it extends your comfort and your riding season significantly then it's worth it. Trust me, this stuff just flat works.

Re: Widder vest quit working

I heard that Widder was created/owned by a WWII U.S. Air Corps member who was a B17 crewmember and used similar products during their flights at altitude.

If he was still the owner, Godspeed in your next adventure, Sir... and thanks for your service! (even tho he'll probably never hear this)
