Leather Jackets

I'm looking for a leather jacket - motorcycle style but more to be worn while not on a bike. Before you send me over the Harley store, any on-line retailers you can recommend?
Thanks,
Jim

Try Alpinestars. They make a good leather jacket.

Re: Leather Jackets

BMW Atlantis 4 is an excellent jacket, and is the first one I've had (in leather) that is really waterproof. The other day I've tried in a local shop some excellent quality Dainese leather jackets, including some nice brown ones - I wouldn't be able to give you a clear model indication (of course none of the parrot type speed jackets with rainbows all over ).

Re: Leather Jackets

Check out the standard Navy Flight Jacket - My 30 year old one finally wore out and I found a nice replacement. Actually, I had this company replace the cuffs and zipper, but after botching the job several times ( a long story) they sent me a new jacket that was identical to my old one, only new.

It's the G-1 model. Nice long sleeves on the bike make a difference. For MOTORMAN587, No special padding though!

Re: Leather Jackets

Sorry, I use to ride with leather, till I got smarter and educated. Can not tell you how many crashes I have responded to where the driver of the car, has stated, "I did not see them".

Can you tell which one is leather?????????

Check out First Gear leather jackets. I have had one for about 15 years and the quality was very good at the time when I bought mine.

Re: Leather Jackets

Back before the LT I was invited to a three day weekend in the smokies on my old 76 Suzuki. I needed some riding gear (this was pre-modern ATGATG). I end up getting the best deal at Wilson's Leather in the mall and it was bike grade stuff. The jacket is still quite usable in the winter to keep the air off the Gerbings but I am not real fond of the chaps. I wouldn't hesitate to go sliding down the road in the jacket, just no armor. It didn't bleed black dye all over me like my riding buddies jackets did in the rain.

Re: Leather Jackets

I can't believe no one has suggested Vanson leathers. I own a couple of their jackets and they are stout. The price tag is not for the faint of heart, however.

www.vansonleathers.com

BMW also makes a quality leather jacket but as with Vanson, be prepared to part with some cash. As someone said earlier, Dainese is another terrific brand.

For the most part in life I've found you get what you pay for. For the most part...

Good luck,

David

I bought a leather jacket last year from FOX CREEK LEATHER

They came highly recommended from a friend and fellow rider and I agree it's the nicest leather I have ever seen in a jacket. It didn't come with armor but they have the pockets designed for the Forcefield Armour so I bought that too and put it in.

Nice thing about Fox Creek when you call you get a real live person here in the USA. It's a small family business.

BMW made a really neat looking leather version of their club jacket. Looked like good stuff with armor!

Don't know what your price point is, But every jacket I've ordered from this company has been well made and a good value.
