Nolan 102C vs Nolan 1002 X-llte experience

I've been relatively pleased with the three 102C's we bought, with some exception. Nothing perfect, but these were pretty good. Waited for warranty parts for eight months, just arrived this week.

The helmet, IMO, either fits, or it doesn't. Not finding anything else out there I liked, I got the size L, and used a cue ball and 3/8" drive and socket to round off any hot spots. That worked well enough.

With cooler temps on the way, I decided I wanted a slightly larger helmet for the doo rag or balaclava to fit. No way in heck any of those will fit in the L.

I ordered the 1002 in XL, and it is tighter than my 102C in L. Both helmets measure the same, front to back, and I did not feel much difference wearing them.

Just passing that along in case anyone was interested in either helmet. The best fitting helmet of any brand, at any cost I could find, was the Gmax GM44. Those will soon be in stock, mid to late Sept. Looks like that will be my cold riding helmet. For $119, you have to wonder, how can they offer that much helmet for the money.

Nolan would be well advised to check out the Gmax ammenities, and take a good look as to why they could not incorporate some of those ideas in a helmet costing nearly three times as much, such as the 30 second visor exchange.
