What do you daily commuters like to wear in HOT weather?

I live in Houston Texas and am about to start riding my bike to my business at least a few days per week.

I have a mesh jacket (with liner for cooler climates) and a heavy tourmaster 3/4 jacket for colder weather.

What do you guys like in warmer weather? I thought a full suit would be easy to jump in and out of and have full body coverage (I wear shorts alot in the summer) when riding ( like an Aerostich or equivelent) but it seems it would be VERY HOT.

Any and all comments and recommendations welcome......

Cool Re: What do you daily commuters like to wear in HOT weather?

It's been pretty hot in this part of Texas and I have a 32 mile round trip commute daily from Lindale to Tyler. I try to ride my 2005 LT to work every day if possible rain or shine.

I am able to fold my suit, dress shirt, dress shoes and tie into a travel bag which fits inside the trunk. In hot weather, I wear a tee shirt, jeans (with riding shorts) and tennis shoes to and from work. I just change at the office.

I also wear a 1/2 helmet during the summer as it cuts down on the sweaty hair issue.

+1 re motoport/cycleport air mesh kevlar gear....with my unfaired motorcycle, lots of air to keep me not hot, not cool, but not hot when the temps are above 85 here in Colorado.

Me too, on the Olympia, just wear it over my clothes. I wear my Altberg motorcycle boots, too. 102 degrees yesterday.

I ride to the night shift ~5:30 pm here in AZ, near 110. Long sleeve white t-shirt, jeans, boots. Almost pass out at long lights...

The Olympia one piece mesh suit may be the answer you're looking for.

I love the Vanson mesh jacket. And yes, even in CT we can get hot humid weather in the 90's and 100.

First Gear Mesh jacket and pants. The heat gets so hot here I find it is more comfortable with the visor down to keep the heat away

Re: What do you daily commuters like to wear in HOT weather?

I've been riding the LT 32 miles each way to work in Houston for going on 4 years now. Got married at 50 years old and moved to my wife's side of town (NW).

I wear jeans and my business casual shirt under a Joe Rocket Phoenix. Sidi riding boots. I change into slacks and shoes at work. It's typically cool enough at 6am to make it there without working up too much lather. For the ride home... well, you're gonna be soaked when you get home. I wear only my t-shirt under the Phoenix. Sometimes leave the button down shirt on a hangar at work for another day, but not always. When I get home I enjoy my favorite cold beverage and jump in he shower. If you've got a pool, that's the way to go. Just don't stay out on the road too long and it's tollerable.

BTW.... I don't usually have to sit in our typical Houston traffic. 290 HOV to Washington St and I-10 through town to the east side. Reverse in the afternoon. If there's an accedent and I hear about it in time I adjust my route or just stay put for a little while.

I get to wear shorts at work but have to be presentable, so far only about 100F! Base layer, Im in UnderArmor heat gear undies with Alpinestar boots, Olympia pants, Tourmaster Jacket, Modular bonnet and Ti-maxx mittens. I slip into shorts, Tennis shoes and a shirt and no knows if I've ridden or not!

Re: What do you daily commuters like to wear in HOT weather?

Speaking of daily commutes, for the last two days has been about 60 degrees when I head out: too cold for the Vent Max! This bliss cannot last!

Cortec GX-Air jacket, Tour Master Venture Air Pants over my BVDs and Frank Thomas Aqua boots. Shirt slacks & shoes in backpack with laptop. Will get you to work without to much sweat. When you get home, hit the shower. 100+ is just plain hot no matter how you dress.

I'm pretty sure you are joking, right?
ATGATT, no excuse on the weather. You can get a cool-shirt system or cooling vest.
Where do you guys/gals buy your gear? My local dealer doesn't have what I want/like.

Just joking, in the Houston heat, heavy jeans, alpine Stars touring boots and a tee shirt.
when I can afford it going to go mesh. I have full leathers for winter, never tried chaps, the thought of sliding on my ass and cold balls just don't sound good to me.

Just a tad expensive BUT second to none. When your down in the OC way, Wayne will custom fit riding gear for you. Takes about 10 business days to make and then sent to you FedEx. Amazing custom fit and finish.

I will do that then next month or so when I go to HB, I like their products very much, and it seems top-of-the-line gear which is what I want, I don't want to be buying 2,3,4 jackets/pants/suits until I can afford what I want.
For now I'll get the Olympia gear from my local dealer.
