Long Oval Heads, lend me your experience (Please)

Greetings All,

I have a "long oval" melon. My ARAI Signet GTR, in addition to not matching my RT, is getting old. Nothing really wrong with it and I value full-face protection. Alas, the Signet has been replaced by the Profile. In this mix, I'm adding the Shoei X11 and the SHARK RSI. Anything I should know about these three buckets that I haven't already read on WebBike World and on this forum?

Thanks for your time in advance.

I don't know what you have read on Webbike World or this forum, but my X11 provides more ventilation than about any other helmet I know of. It also requires a boom microphone if you're using a J&M headset. The X11 is very light too.

When it comes time for a new helmet, I'll see if I can find an Arai that fits. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have much room for one's chin, but I still have fond memories of my Arai Quantum 2.

Best of luck.

The Quantum 2 was the best fit full face helmet I have ever found as well.

I prefer a flip face helmet and I have always had to perform "adjustments" to get any of them to fit my melon or perhaps egg is a better descriptive . The Shoei Syncrotec was what came closest in the past but it still required a little additional length adjustment. The newer Shoei Multitec has worked really well for me. It's the first flip face helmet that fit me right out of the box. So any egghead looking for a flip face helmet should try on a Multitec before they give up the search. Just my $0.02.

Maybe my head isn't "long/oval" enough but my Schuberth C2 sure fits better than my previous lids which all were too tight from front to back.

I'm on my second Arai Signet GTR. After I learned that they were being discontinued, I went to a couple of local shops and and tried the Profile + several other models...they were not even close in terms of fit/comfort for my noggin'. The folks at the local Cycle Gear store were nice enough to do a national search for me and they found a new one in California. They shipped it to Texas AND gave me a BIG discount since it was a discontinued model!!
