Rear seat tie down systems

For those who need to tie down things on the rear seat and don't want go all the way of adding the aluminum flat bed here are two very simple mods that I have made.

http://picasaweb.google.com/pozoizqu...TTIEDOWNSYSTEM

The first one was done back in 2004 and the second "strap loops" I used on my CCR trip last year.

Thumbs up Really Nice!!

Do you have any moisture problems in the top case? Water wicking in through the strap during washing or rain? Did you seal it somehow? I have the Strap and Go System; this would be a good addition.

Thanks for the idea!

Someone did a post a few years back showing how he used two pieces of 14" X 1" nylon strap material with two holes melted through the two flattened ends (loop at the top) and attached them under the two body screws just in front of the side bags just under the rear seat. Very simple and works. I have been using these for a long time. The loop end can be pushed under the rear seat until needed.

I use 2 short soft ties, looped to the frame under the passenger seat. Wrap them around the frame until about 2" are sticking out from under the seat. I can attach tie downs or bungees to the ends when needed. They stay there, tuck the ends under the seat when not in use. If I ever need to tie down the bike they can be used as tie down points.

That is the Strap 'N Go I referred to in my post. There is a link in my signature if interested.

A great simple solution

I've been using this simple strap (in fact getting ready to head to SC in the morning using it) for several years. It folds up (1/2 under the front seat) out of the way and is easy to cinch on a large duffel bag. Took about an hour to install (remove the trunk) and then it disappears until you need it.
