Chicane Rack Bag Question

I talked with Randy at Chicane about the "Mesa" rack bag for my LT stock topcase rack. He suggested that I consider buying the "Sierra" which is not shown on the Chicane web site. He was going to send me pictures of each bag mounted on an LT but hasn't done so yet.

Does anybody have a picture of the "Mesa" or the "Sierra" mounted on their bike that you can post to the site?

Thanks.

I'm not 100% certain which bag this is...but Randy sold it to me at the MOA rally in Lima, OH. I have to believe that it's the Sierra Bag if that's the one he's recommending to you.

Thanks Joe! Randy described the Sierra as being wider and lower than the Mesa bag. Comparing your picture to the Mesa bag on the Chicane web site, I would agree that the bag on your LT must have been the lower profile Sierra model.

Chicane Rack Bag Question

Saw and mounted the Sierra on an LT trunk rack
at Capitol BMW in Raleigh, NC.

Larger than the Mesa, smaller than the Dune.
Bag is the width of the trunk rack.
However, the straps DO NOT align with the slots on the rack.
One set of straps can be routed through the slots.
The opposite set will be offset to the outside edge of the other slot.
Though the bag will be mounted slightly offset,
it does prevent it from sliding, laterally.
I like the bag.
I have the Chicane Canyon EX tank bag, and love it.
Especially the built-in rain cover.
Excellent design and workmanship.
The Sierra is no different.

I have both the Mags Bags rack bag and Kathy's Journey Designs rack bag.
Bought the Mags Bags over the Kathy's because of capacity.
Hadn't considered what to do with it when I didn't need the bag.
The Kathy's Bag folds flat when empty and can be stowed in the saddle bag.
So it's always available when needed.
Neither the Mags Bag, Chicane, nor the RKA can be stowed.

Not an issue when you just want the extra space for specific purposes.
Just something else to think about.

Thanks for the info. I bought a Chicane Sierra from Randy when I was at the BMW rally in West Bend. I too have the Canyon EX tank bag and like it a lot. Regarding the strap mis-alignment because of the offset slots in the BMW rack, I only use the slots in the rear of the rack and wrap the strap over the rack rail in the front of the rack (not using the slot). I cinch it below the rack out of sight. It is very secure.
