Red face Z-technik vs OEM Trunk Rack?

I am trying to decide between Z-technik vs OEM Trunk Rack. Which one would you recommend?

Which one is easier to install and mistake proof?
Which one has more carrying capacity?
Which one has better mounting options/functionality?
Which one has longer reliability?

I put a Ztechnik on mine...It's great.

I'm not sure but I believe the OEM rack is made of plastic.

Someone else is using a H.D rack with success...It's not as substantial as the ZT but it looks ok as well and I think it's about a hundred less..

Just carefully follow the directions and you won't have a problem mounting it.
I didn't..

Got a Mag's bag on the way for mine to go to CCR.

Me too

I'm still stumbling around looking for a summary comparison of the various top case rack choices: manufacturer, weight-carrying capacity, material (metal v. plastic), etc. Would be nice of one of the folks w/knowledge of these products would post that. I know we aren't supposed to haul anvils on these things, and that's not my goal. I just want to know that Model A holds 10 pounds, Model B holds 2 pounds, and so on. Just looking for a place to put lightweight gear, etc.

Smile Better Vis LED Brake Light IMO

IIRC stock is rated at 5kg. Probably hold more, but not recommened due to high center of gravity. Sticking with the OEM, even though smaller and cheaper looking than the Ztecknic. Has a much better LED installed IMO which I modulate with a backoff box, tucked up inside mirror space. I actually have the Ztecknic rack (bought at Breckenridge) which is designed to swap across using the same 4 holes (maybe a little tweaking req'd) but one difference to note, the OEM wiring comes up through a 5th hole, ZTecknic is through front right leg IIRC. Just req'd to blank out extra hole with the swap. HTH

Luggage rack

I put a Harley rack on my 2000 LT. It doesn't have a rear light, but it costs much less (the rack is around $120, and I found a guy who sells an adapter kit to make them fit) and it is much bigger. The main reason I did it was because I have a T-Bag left over from when I owned my Harley and it fits that rack perfectly. I didn't want to shell out more money for the rack and a new bag to fit it. Plus, since my LT is older, I don't care as much if it a factory bag or a ztech. If I had a newer bike, I probably wouldn't do it. It does take some modification of the inside of the tour pack.
