Linda & I returned late Sunday night traveling for 27 hours from a 2 week riding adventure to Greece.
It was the most challenging technical riding I've done of all the trips with one 9 hour day (7 riding) with twisties, switchbacks, goats, sheep, wild boar, rock slides and some partial road wash-outs. To compare, try to imagine 2X + the curves of the Dragon for 7 hours! Sore arms/shoulders-yes!! I did get a back rub that night though
Greece is in a DEPRESSION
and is a cash society. None of the petrol stations had the ability to process credit cards but we had lots of Euros. The infrastructure reflects the economic conditions but the people were very hospitable and glad to entertain us. Even the tourist shops want cash since they don't trust the banks.
Hardly any traffic since the major season had passed and we visited many areas where only the locals frequent.
We missed the lighting of the Olympic Torch by a day but saw the Marathon the next day in Athens as it begins its journey to the Winter Games in Russia.
The archeological sites were amazing! How did they build those temples thousands of years ago anyway?
Didn't think I would like the Greek cuisine but gained about 8 pounds!
Would I do it again . . . YES!!!!
We rode 2,369 km ~1,400 miles
