At 244 meters above sea level, give or take a cm or two, Basel is lower than a worms gonad's when it comes to the spectacular snow pictures,at least for the moment.
Can you feel the snowy, soggy, wet'n'cold clammy wetness?
That was yesterday and any day not on a bike is a wasted day, so I took Iron pig II out for a run today, not for long mind you, my biker rags were still cold and clammy and very soggy from yesterday's snowy fun run from Augsburg to Basel.
Normally I don't mind the cold but round about Efringen-Kirchen I started to get Bikers nipples from the cold, that is when they are frozen solid and feel like cal .22 bullets chaffing painfully against my wet rags. I am sure that some bikers or woman will feel sympathy for poor Slammer.
Anyway here are a few of my pics from today.
Up in the orchids around Efringen-Kirchen.
And one for remembrance day. Unlike the flaggy statues of the "glorious allied dead," the ones that get cast in stirring pose and rendered in bronze for a hell of a lot of money, German war memorials are low key and on a more somber note.
Vineyards, now empty after the harvest.
I ended up in the Herbstmarkt thawing out with the first Glühwein of the 2012/13 season.
So now I am in my pokey-hole under the roof with a nice little glow wine fueled buzz and smelling sightly of cheesy Raclettey goodness.
