Wyoming's Snowy Range

If a lonely twisting and sweeping ride, with ascents and descents, through an ultra scenic setting has a way with you, perhaps you already know about the Snowy Range in southern Wyoming. Mentioned this to a friend yesterday who knows Wyoming well and he replied after the Tetons, he thought this was the most scenic place in the state. Hmmmm... anyway, a few pics and a vid.

At an overlook I noticed this marker stone...

The details...

Wow. Well, I had to find out the details. The tale is told well here... http://www.dailyyonder.com/how-it-en...009/03/25/2020

Medicine Bow Peak is to the left here. The riding through this landscape is special...

To the left/west from the image above, here is the invite...

A pause at one of the numerous crystalline lakes scattered throughout this high place...

And if having five minutes before moving on to something important , here's a vid to and through the Snowy Range...

Well done. You just made me add another destination to my Bucket List.

Take care,

Re: Wyoming's Snowy Range

Definitely add it, also the "Battle Highway" (WY 70 from Encampment to Baggs)) over Battle Pass just west of WY 130 and the Snowy Range. A great east - west transit across southern Wyoming. The Battle Highway is a step down from the scenery of the Snowy Range, but an even better riding road.

Re: Wyoming's Snowy Range

Nice footage, definitely will ride on my next western trip. I've ridden south on the highway west of these mountains and wondered what I was looking at. Now I know. thanks.

Once again Steve you have taken us to that next level.
This time you are beyond your home state and still hitting the right spots. I would not use the word 'bucket' but rather 'Must See Adventure' list at the top. Thanks for sharing these.

Stunning pictures and video, very well done. The scenery out west makes me think of the theme song to an old hit TV show -

It's a different world from where you come from...

Re: Wyoming's Snowy Range

I am guessing about the cam.
Helmet mount on top or left side. What were the specs. very clear video.

Re: Wyoming's Snowy Range

Bill, all, good to hear from you. Yes, the GoPro vid cam was mounted to the lower left side of the helmet. Cams mounted to the top of a helmet deliver a recording too weird/extreme. Although, I will acknowledge when the GoPro is off to the side of my helmet I kinda look like Robby the Robot from the old TV series Lost in Space.

The video placed at YouTube is at 720p HD, 8mbs. Here at home the full blown HD 1080p, 26mbs recording resides on external hard drives. Glorious is the word. Almost like re-riding the road. But alas, the file size is so big, and my rural bandwidth so low, I render a version at 720p for YouTube distribution.
