HW 299 towards Lassen Volcanic Park

Well, time for our trip in USA gets closer and closer and of course our planning becomes more detailed.

Couple of questions: Has anyone of you been on the HW 299 towards Lassen Volcanic Park and how is the Park? Is it a good idea to stop there and ride the HW 299? We plan to start that daily ride from Crecent City. Will be around a 300 Miles ride. Too many Miles for that specific day?

best regards from Bavaria

Re: HW 299 towards Lassen Volcanic Park

Lassen park is a GREAT little park worthy of driving threw. * You MUST stop and hike http://search.yahoo.com/r/_ylt=A0oGd...mpass_hell.htm ... it is well worth the 3 mile hike. ( hell on earth )

The park in heavy snow years tho does not open the road over the summit until June / July some years even tho park is open year round.

In the same zone another jewel of interest is Burney falls http://www.burney-falls.com/

As one who lives and travels the west Coast of NA, your in for a wonderful ride !!

Plus one. I used to live not too far, in Reno. Great place to ride.

Re: HW 299 towards Lassen Volcanic Park

Tried to ride through there in early April. They had 14 feet of snow at the lodge!! The ranger on duty said they found a canyon in the upper area that was in the 40 foot range.

Have to get back up there someday and try again .

Why am I here and what day is it??
