Looking for advice on Colorado

We're starting to plan our summer trip and Colorado gets the thumbs up for this year.

Looking for ideas of 2-3 places to park the motorhome and explore that region for a couple days by bike.

Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Looking for advice on Colorado

You can't go wrong with southwest colorado. Durango to Ouray is top 5 for me, at least. its all pretty good.

Re: Looking for advice on Colorado

This past August, we stayed in Silverthorne for a couple of days and did loops out of there. We basically used Road Runner magazine's Shamrock Tour loops. Worked out well for us, then moved on to southwest for a few days.

Also a big help in planning for us was Steve Farson's book "The Complete Guide to Motorcycling Colorado"

Been there done that one - it's a blast once you get over the big driop out side of Ouray
Did it on the DUC so might be a different ride than the big touring bike. But nice ride along the old gold / train line

Re: Looking for advice on Colorado

+1 for the Ouray loop - Ouray Durango, east to South Fork, north through Creede, over Slumgullion Pass into Lake City, then back to Hwy 50 to Montrose, then south to Ouray. A minimum two day adventure and very worth it. The best part of CO, imo. Also, you can take the highway north to Ridgway then loop through Telluride, Dolores, Durango, Silverton, back to Ouray. All great roads, try to avoid the weekends, traffic is heavier.

Another great bunch of riding is around Aspen - McClure Pass to the west, Independence Pass to the east.
