Passport 8500 question

My LT came with a Passport 8500 and not sure if it is working right. It initiates fine, just like the manual says but has never gone off after 5K miles of riding. It has a light bar and might even be wired into the intercom. I heard several short beeps the other day when passing a strip mall but too much traffic to fool around with it. Any way to check this out short of sending back to the company?
I am pretty sure I have driven past places where radar was set up.

Re: Passport 8500 question

I’d have to say I know nothing of the Passport 8500. ‘Cept that it is a very good detector. But if you like the sound of those beeps and want to hear 'em more often, even when you don't want to hear'em, just switch it for a Valentine.

Re: Passport 8500 question

See what mode the detector is in.

Highway mode should go off if you sneeze
Auto mode with go off once or twice and then mute down
City mode will not go off for service stations and such

check to see that it is not muted. Kieth

Go online and get the instruction book...............

Re: Passport 8500 question

Thanks for the info. I did download the manual and that is how I know it is initiating correctly. What I don't get is, if I leave it in the highway mode which is suppose to be the most sensitive why it almost never goes off, even in the crowded downtown and beach areas that use tickets as a revenue generator.
