Radar Screamer snafu

I love the Radar Screamer. I really can't abide having the beeping coming thru com, nor a flashing light, no matter how subtle, in the corner of the periph.

I had a Screamer on the LT for many, many thousands of miles with no problemo. The one on the GT, with only 27 thou on it starting working sporadically and then quit.

I bought a new one and the first part I swapped out was the actual Piezo screamer and it fixed it. Total time from start to finish: about 15 minutes. I love working on the GT, the side panel is literally a few minutes to pull.

I talked to a guy at CCR (I can't remember who) that was having the same problem. These folks that I bought the screamer from have a question and answer box. I asked the question and never heard back. Sigh.

Still, I love the product, have bought it before and would buy it, yet again, if I had to.

I have one on all of my bikes. I don't like sirens in my helmet either...

The last one I installed would not make any sound. Of course I had assembled the bike! After pulling the panels I decided to plug it in to another bike -- siren would not make a sound.

Since it wasn't working anyways I decided to try switching the wires on the siren. It worked!

I was glad I didn't have to remove the rest to send it back.

Even with this one issue, I wouldn't trade the screamer for any other warning device.

You know what would be fun? Hook it to a Stebel air horn!

What's really fun is going slowly by a LEO who has someone pulled over with the switch on high.

U is most definitely twisted. I was leaving a gas station once and the siren went off as I pulled out....funny, funny looks. But I think the blonde liked it.

I have experienced something funny with the Stebel and my Escort 8500. When I honk the horn (Stebel + stock) it sets off the Laser on the Escort so I also get a bell sound in my helmet.
So let's assume you hooked up your Screamer to your Stebel and get an alert it would set off the Stebel, which in turn would set off the Escort (laser), which in turn would set off the Screamer, also setting off the Stebel. Voila! You just invented infinity!

Re: Radar Screamer snafu

The first one they sent me was DOA. They sent me a "test kit" to do a diagnosis and determined the horn was dead and replaced it.....total time spent @ 3 weeks, worked fine for a month or so and the started working sporadically(Low volume, wired noises, no noise etc) On the way to Indy twice was hit by radar at 80-85 and didn't realize it until seeing the car's I don't have much confidence in the screamer at this point

I'm thinking they have a bad bunch of piezzos. There are tons of them out there in the car alarm world. If mine dies again, I'm going to replace it with one of those.

Now that I've bought a entire new kit, I have a test kit. sigh. Radar Buster has yet to get back to me.
