Sena Escort 8500

Any good ideas on getting the 8500 into the Sena 20s?

I tried their bluetooth unit, but all I got was a slight bump-- had to be listening for it. Also, according to Sena, it is LOW priority..Not what you want.

Suggestions??

Re: Sena Escort 8500

Don't know if you would want to go this length, but I used to run an Escort 8500 on my '05 RT through a Mix-It2 amp to a Sena SMH10 because I couldn't hear the navigation and the music. I ran output from a Zumo 660, Escort 8500 and an MP3 player from an iPhone. I paired the phone to the SMH10 also. See attached PDF. I also had a USB adapter for charginh when I needed to charge my Sena, iPhone and bluetooth dongle.

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Re: Sena Escort 8500

The one I used is no longer available, but one like this will work. Transmitter. The problem with just plugging a transmitter into the Escort from what I heard is that there is no constant polling between the transmitter and detector, so you get a delay on transmit. When it is plugged into an amp the way I used it, it was always communicating with the amp so it picked up the signal from the detector instantly.

Re: Sena Escort 8500

Good input!
Didn't know the TX & RX needed constant connection...

I had thought of an amp...

Good solution..Shame SENA does not have a solution..Maybe a TX Dongle with a small carrier wave signal(low power) to maintain the input.

Wonder if a small amp connected in line between thr 8500 and the BT TX would maintain it?

Re: Sena Escort 8500

It's not a Sena problem, the bluetooth dongle that I was using needed to see output or it would go offline, that's why I used one that could be recharged while it was in use. The dongle would last about seven hours on a charge but the Sena would work for ten hours.

Re: Sena Escort 8500

A small amp like a Boostaroo would probably work, but the output from the 8500 is mono. All of the amps will probably will be stereo, that's why I used the Mix-It2. It has a mono input for radar detectors.
