1996 R1100R

Does anyone know what the difference between the Motronics on the 1996 R model fuel injection system, verses the newer systems that do not have the surging issues? Oh, and also, can the older motronics be updated with the newer system?

Think the biggest thing that cured surging on Oilheads was the change to two spark plugs per cylinder.

Has anyone used 2 TPS's on the oilhead? I think that would fix the problem for ever. Since the left is the master it only takes a small amount of the right TB being off to cause a problem. I have been very successful in TB sync but think there could be something better. Not sure how 2 plugs would cure an out of sync problem. From what I understand of the throttle sync is that if the right TB is off, it will only be commanded fuel flow to the position of the master TB (left). That is where the problem is that I can see, and if you have a TPS on the right also then it would have its own demand and would not surge due to searching for the right fuel mixture for the position. A friend of mine has an Aprilia twin and his has a TPS for each TB. And it does not have any surge issues.
