Need luggage help

My 1994 1100RS has been disassembled in my garage for over two years. Being unemployed I finally took the time to get it back together. New brakes, new tires, new brake lines, etc.

One problem: My right case is locked in the open and removed position. See picture. I can not turn the key and don't want to break anything... I know for sure it all worked since I had it re-keyed before I took the bike apart. Has anyone run across that?

Help is appreciated!!!

Re: Need luggage help

Have you tried spraying lube in all the moving securing pieces and then jiggling the handle as you move the key?

If that does not help you might want to search or post in the oilhead wrenching section of

Re: Need luggage help

Figured it out: The red safety catch was very slightly bend downward not allowing it to retract into the case. Easy fix, after a lot of frustration.
