Looking For Some Advise

Not sure if this should be posted under the GS or R bike forum but obviously I picked the "R". Anyway, I'm thinking about looking for an early to mid '90's R 1100/1150 GS preferably with ABS. I've been riding LT's since '99 but, other than an R65 that the wife rode for about a year, have very little experience or knowledge concerning R bikes. So, my question to all you experts is;

Are there any particular advantages to the 1150 vs the 1100?

What are/were the reliability issues with these two versions?

Other than the obvious what specifics should I look for when considering a bike for purchase?

Thanks for your help.

Lynn, while you look at the r series you may want to take a look at the r1200c. You just may be a chrome head and not know it. To me I understand the r series motor much better. They are not for everyone but, you may be one of the few. Be careful, once you go r1200c you don't always go back. Kola1

I've considered the R1200C in the past but decided to stay with the LT. My interest now is something that will let me safely investigate some of the many dirt (actually sand - no dirt in Florida) roads around the area, therefore the interest in the GS.

Lynn, You are right the r1200c is a pig in the dirt. You may want to look at the r850 from 98 down. kola
