Anyone have the ZTechnik exhaust on their "R" bike?

Does anyone here have the ZTechnik exhaust on their "R" bike

I'm considering this upgrade on my R1150, but I have nothing to compare it to at this time. I know it is a little louder, but that is about all. However , I have read the manufacturers literature that claims
substantial weight loss and horsepower increase .

My Ouestions:
Is the upgrade worth the cost ~ $800+ in parts?
How does the ZTechnik exhaust compare to others?
Is repacking these things a pain?

Thank you in advance for your response.

I had one put on my R1150GS Adventure last year and I really like it. It is a lot lighter and louder (but nothing like my Harley) and it seems to be a little more responsive but I've never put the bike on a dyno to test the real results. Never had to repack it either so I can't help you there. Good luck.

I researched the issue and I was glad I did. If you are doing alot of long distance riding you may want to consider the volume and tone issues. They may sound better but after a day of riding that sweet sound may not be so sweet.

I heard that the Remus is a different toe and more toloerable on long rides.

If you are only going to go on short day rides it may be a non issue. I still have not decided which way to go.

Let me know how it turns out as I am interested in losing the extra weight (off of my bike).

Safe riding,

Anyone have the ZTechnik exhaust on their "R" bike?

I had one on a R1100RT & at first it sounded wonderful! After several 200 to 400 mile days I had to holler "UNCLE"! Between the constant noise & the backfiring when decelerating I had enough. I then tried the Staintune system which is much more mellow, but still backfired on deceleration! In spite of the performance gains (which you could actually feel) I went back to the stock exhaust & lived happily everafter.

Re: Anyone have the ZTechnik exhaust on their "R" bike?

I put the ZTechnik system on my '07 R1200RT myself (an easy job). I really like it and have no complaints. I'm a little hard of hearing so the slight increase in volume sounds good to me. It might be my imagination, but the bike seems to run better too. I bought the system from Beemer Boneyard for a great price. The owner is excellent to deal with and I recommend looking at his website to see if he has more.

PS...I sold all the stock parts on eBay so the total exchange was almost FREE!!

I installed the Ztechnik complete exhaust on my 09 RT and like it.
I tried it with the baffle out, Too loud and popping. Keep it in.
Sounds good to me. I also have poor hearing so the little extra noise is good.(had HD's before.)
