Unhappy ABS lights on

Hi everybody,
I own a R1200CL from 2003 and recently I noticed the ABS lights on (general failure on, ABS light at 4 Hz). Still, I got servo...
Tried a forced brake on a save zone and, guess what! Servo got away and only the residual braking left... Hmmmm!
Shut the engine off, restart (ABS test ok), start rolling (ABS lights off, so everything ok), pushed a little brake and ABS lights came on again (like what I said at the beginning)!
And the cycle could have been repeated many time exactly the same....

I've heard many about this, usually the cause being the battery, the brake fluid levels, or even the actuator...
Nobody described yet my situation: After all the start tests (including riding) were ok, if I just gently touch the brake lever (I can hear the pump entering to action), the lights come on (general steady, ABS 4 Hz). If I release the brake, the lights are off (as they should stay...). Only if I apply a greater force on the lever (yet not hard braking...), the lights come on and stay on, no matter I release the lever.
About the lever, could be the hand lever or the foot lever, it's the same...
If I use greater force to brake (like a sudden brake), the next thing I know is I only have residual braking... Bad thing... I have to shut off the contact, than restart and I take it from the beginning...
At least, with normal braking, the servo still works, so I can drive it with no major problems. Just be careful not to brake too hard...

I checked the brake pads - ok, brake fluid levels in reservoirs - ok, no other issues (like no tacho, automatic signal release, etc.)

Could be the battery (i'm going to check on it soon), but first I wanted the opinion of others...

Safe riding!
Chris
