Don't have a lot of tips (yet) as I, too, am new to owning an S. I got my 2000 model SE two years ago as a 60th B-day present from me to me. I thought at that age, I would be mature enough to ride my first sport bike wisely and responsibly--I was wrong.

Re: R1100S OWNERS

Tip: get the service actions performed.

1. You'll need a new throttle housing on right handlebar and new throttle cable. The original setup with cable making 90-degree turn inside plastic has been superceded.

2. Get the new windscreen mounting system to avoid windscreen cracking.

3. Not necessarily a service action ... get the new design left-side cam chain tensioner (same as R1200s).

4. Good idea is to install the battery charging post that mounts to starter (need hole through starter cover).

Seriously, I love the styling of your bike. I kinda like the yellow/silver theme too!
