Removing K1100LT tank

I am a K1200LT rider but am currently fitting a GPS to a K1100LT.
Can anyone tell me how to remove the tank so I can hide the wiring.
Alternatively if you happen to know a great place to tap into 12 volts without going to the battery that might be even better.

Re: Removing K1100LT tank

hello there

Sorry for my English, but I hope this might help you.
You don't need to remove the tank.
I've put an inox or stainless steel bar ( made by a craftsman) between the two screws on top of the windshield , just below the movable windscreen..
There you can put the GPS holder and the wiring goes under the removable part at the inside of the windscreen ( best to remove the left hand side) You can easily reach the battery. Better is to connect the wires of the GPS on the positive and negative pole of the tale light. In order to get the GPS active the moment youn turn on the ignition.
You may use a connection half way should the GPS wire be tho short

greetings from Belgium

The easiest place to mount and get your power source is through the map light,
I don't have a close up picture of the dash but this one should give you the general idea.
