From a Busa to a K1200GT

Hey there, can't say I'm a newbie yet! I just sold by '08 Busa, guys picking it up in a hour. I got tired of the stupid backpack needed to commute to work, and not being able to fully open up the bike without losing my license.

Cuurently looking at a 2004 K1200GT. Test rode a 2010 Rt yesterday and felt like I was riding a horse as I was so far off the ground it was disorienting. I think the riding position will be a better match on the GT.

Anyone moved from a Busa to a GT? What's your experience?

Re: From a Busa to a K1200GT

I sold a '98 Kaw ZX-11 to buy my 2006 K1200GT. I think that is kinda the same move you're looking to make. I would recommend that you seriously consider a 2006 or newer GT. There's quite a difference in power and features ... even though the older GT is arguably a prettier bike (Classic lines!). Then again, you came off of a 'Busa ... looks doesn't really concern you eh? (Spoken like a true Kawasaki guy. )

Also, you mentioned riding an RT. While that is a really bullet-proof motor design and it works well on the GSes, someone coming off of a smooth Jap 4-cylinder might not appreciate the vibrations and lack of top-end that the RT's motor (the Boxer) provides.

Talking Re: From a Busa to a K1200GT

Well I've now converted to the K1200GT, a 2004 with 20,000KM. I've been riding her for about 3 weeks now,and I love this bike. I rode the 2010 but preferred the 2004 for weight balance, I know it's a heavier bike but sure doesn't feel that way!

It great to actually see the scenery as you ride!
