Fuel tank k 75\100

Anyone have info about fuel tank on these? what year on bikes??

I thinking of BMW big mistake too mounting the fuelpump too long in front of the tank. This is å big problem when its aprox 1 gallon left in the tank, the pump cant deliver gas, air comming inn the pump, and you loses power, very dangeroes if this happening passing a car or somthing. it is wery

Thanc you

Not true!! The pump pickup is at the lowest point in the tank, in fact there is a dropped area where the pickup is. I have never heard of one starving for gas because there is a gallon left. You also forget that the pump is cooled by the gas and so, you shouldnt routinely let the tank get that low.

Re: Fuel tank k 75\100

But i had a k before my 91 rt, never problem, could have 1 litre left, never notice anything.

When i got my first k 75c 86 mod, i been told by the seller that this bike not have the fueltank whith the gaspumpinlet mounted too long in front of the tank.

My problem today is when you give more throttle fast, by xample passing a car, the fuel is forced too the rear of the tank, and the injectors must have 3,2 bar fuelpressure too contain the engine power.

But its not a problem when i have a constant speed at 50 mph, because the gas is in all of the bottom of the tank.
My english is maybee not good, but do you anderstend what i try too explaine??

My friend took a look in the tank on my 86 mod some years ago, by opening fillercap, he said, "yes you got the right gastank" And i remember a time ago, that i heard about this problem before.

Offcourse i should fill it up when the red warning light comes on, aprox 1 gallon. (4 litres) but i often drive 300-350 km nonstop here in norway, and somethimes long between gaspumps. I really like too drive long distances

But i could also been wrong about this problem , but will check whith an Bmw dealer about it tomorrow.

I notice from the bmw dealer now, that its different type off fulepump up too mod 93, from 93 onwards is another type of fuelpump.

Thanks for your reply

Re: Fuel tank k 75\100

I had a K100RS4V that used to starve whenever I really ripped on the throttle because of the fuel pump placement.

The best advice is that if you're going to be passing to be aware of your fuel level before doing so and accelerate appropriately.

The advice on not letting the tank get to low routinely is sound advice.

Besides, how can you outrun the police if you don't have a full tank?

It was custom made. A guy named Ray Randoff (now deceased) used to make them for the Iron Butt types. I bought it used. I travel two up and tow a bushtec. The stock tank just didn't have the range.
