Question HDDC 12/25/13

What was the consensus for this HDDC? As long as I am on here, what about 1/1/14 HDDC?

What would you like to do? We have plans for Christmas eve and family the day after - So we might be up for something on Wednesday?

Re: HDDC 12/25/13

That's where I run into trouble, the where to part. I wanted to go out thru Maxwell almost to Stonyford then take the road that goes back to highway 20. No ideas after that. Any thoughts?

Is this what you are looking for? http://goo.gl/maps/dh8rj

Or were you looking for dirt?

Not sure about this except part of it is narrow asphalt http://goo.gl/maps/s28tE Don't know what is between C and D but the other part is narrow asphalt.

Re: HDDC 12/25/13

The first route is the one I was thinking. I have ridden all the trails out of Fouts Springs but never connected Fouts with Middle Creek/Elk Mountain Road, which is what route 2 b,c,d does. We could see if it works on the big bikes but I have the Anakee tires. We just have to be ready to explore and/or back track.

Re: HDDC 12/25/13

On the GS, no, not dirt fast. Wrong tires too. So, mostly looking for rocked roads that connect Stonyford to Middle Creek. Or take the first route Tim posted down to hwy 20. then what?

I'm working on Doug too.

Re: HDDC 12/25/13

Bob, I am not fast anytime

Looks like the non-asphalt section of #1 is manicured gravel. Chris, I have Anakee 3's and do not like the front tire any time but airing down to 25-30 and riding like I care for my life should do the trick.

Are we looking at both sections or just one?

There is gasoline at Williams, Cache Creek Casino (nice place to take a break), and Woodland.

Re: HDDC 12/25/13

Put Knoxville-Berryessa, both previous routes and 16 on the same map http://goo.gl/maps/MLjLR

This would be a very good ride but... it is 4400 ft el unknown dirt between G and H with two water crossings... 8.5 hours not including to and from West Sac and Woodland. This would be a good ride during warmer months with more daylight. Actually would be good for a camping trip to include more back roads.

Here is a modified route http://goo.gl/maps/tUOmM
Miles could be reduced by taking Lodoga or extended by adding Stonyford. These would be out and back asphalt miles.

Sunday has 9 hours and 30 minutes of sun uptime. 7:22a to 4:53p

Any other suggestions?

I like the second route going E, F, to I then back south leaving Ladoga/etc out of it (leave G and H off the route). What do you think?

We can meet at Chevron Station on West Capitol Avenue. Use the Enterprise Blvd exit.

Bob, I-5 is shorter and simpler than I-505... unless you meet us at I-505 and Putah Creek Road. The next gas stop would be a Shell Station at Lower Lake.

I am 20 minutes from the Chevron so both of you choose the meetup time.

Re: HDDC 12/25/13

Tim, is there an address in Woodland you want to meet? Place to eat there? Assume somewhat early so we are back before dark.

Bob, if you are coming via Stockton you can meet me and maybe Doug along the highway somewhere.

Thanks for a good ride on good roads and good weather and good food. All of that and no I-5 for me or Phil. Had a Good Time!

Want to explore more of that area. Chris was interested in the Indian Valley Reservoir area http://goo.gl/maps/W4EH8 and so am I. All of these roads are Google Street View driven. Need an earlier start.
