Smile I guess this could be considered major disturbance

It's official. After almost 11 months of Patty moving to Nevada and 6 months after selling our house in Sacramento, we now have a new to us house in Minden, NV in the Johnson Lane area. It's 5-6 miles south from Carson City and 8-9 miles north of downtown Minden. Just east off of highway 395.

If you are ever in the area, please stop by. BTW, the house has a 1050 sq-ft garage. Plenty of room to wrench on a bike if needed.

PM if you need an address.

I'll be moving up there end of June. Hopefully I can find another job.

Congrats to you and Patty! That's a beautiful area to live and raise a family.

Not to mention the bonus it's not in California!

Re: I guess this could be considered major disturbance

Thanks all. The large garage is nice. it's 32 feet deep. Large enough to put the boat in and still have 7-8 feet behind it.

Also, the place has history. Previous owner is an X-Games gold medal winner twice.

I think I can sneak a can-am or a Ural Patrol in there.

Couple of photos from the backyard. Summer and winter.

Congrats Raffy. As my wife and I start to seriously plan for our relocation in a couple years, I'm interested to know why that spot. I have been giving NV serious consideration ... right along the NV/CA border. Talk to me.

Re: I guess this could be considered major disturbance

Thanks all.

Joe,

No state income tax.

Sales tax at 7.1%

Gas is currently at $3.44 per gallon about 40-50 cents cheaper than CA

Home prices are lower. What I was able to buy in NV would have not been possible in CA unless I wanted to drop over a million.

Small town feeling, friendly people

Good schools.

Close to Carson City (15 minutes), Reno (50 minutes). Tahoe (40 minutes), Sacramento (2:20), Mammoth Lakes (3:15) etc.

Patty's job is in Tahoe. Home prices there are between $100K-$200K higher.

Cons:

Property taxes can be high

Have to drive 8-10 miles for groceries unless you are in town and not on the outskirts like we are

Not many dining establishments in Minden. More in Carson City.

Depending on which county you are in will determine a the price of homes. Carson county is the worst. You are in Douglas county... Nice place

Re: I guess this could be considered major disturbance

I spent 7 years 40 miles south of Buffalo, NY about 200 yards from the shore of Lake Erie. Shoveling snow for 2 hours to get the car out was good exercise.
