Thumbs up Re: HDDC Tech Session / BBQ - Saturday 1/14

Thanks Hoss, Hallzee and John/Cathy for helping out.
Chris stopped by to see if we were doing it all correctly.
Final Drive swapped, splines lubed and Rubber Chicken bushing installed.
Valves adjusted and alternator belt changed.
Thank You to my wife Janet for coffee and lunch prep/clean up.

FYI:
The FD was swapped due to oil leaking out at 20k and 27 months after installation durring CCR Rapid City. This is a brand new BMW FD installed by Sturgis BMW.
Opened drive and bearings seem Ok and no sediment on mag drain plug and no particles/flakes in the oil.
Removed O-ring seal and upon inspection there was an area that looked narrow and you could plainly feel the spot with your fingers.
Maybe overstretched during mfg ?
Installed new O-ring seal.
Will now keep as a spare and run the origional bikes FD which has been rebuilt by CharlieVT.
Hopefully End of Story.

Yes, thank Janet for the grub and for coming back to save us (me) with the coffee! good times! another example of why it takes 3 people and a supervisor to put a FD back on the bike!

Re: HDDC Tech Session / BBQ - Saturday 1/14

Thanks to Janet and Doug for their typical hospitality. And an extra special thanks to John for teaching me how to count and fill in the attendees list correctly! It was great to meet Hoss and Brian (now you will have to teach me how to spell your names) and say "Hi" to Kathy. Maybe we could go for a ride someday?

Thanks Janet, for coffee, donuts, and a great lunch!. It was fun... Best part is that Doug now has a perfectly fine backup FD. Too bad those rarely come on handy...

Couple pictures below. The patient on the table, and also a couple surgeons (Drs. Holck and Hoswell) at work.

Re: HDDC Tech Session / BBQ - Saturday 1/14

Hey John,

Remember we were talking about my valve check job for the 6,000 mile on 1200GSA. Turns out they are all dead in the middle and needed no adjustment. I was tickled that I didn't have to figure out how to come up with the shims.

At almost 59 years young the rolling around on the floor is getting old. But I hafta get a bigger garage before the lift. Oh well.
