Mid Winter Tech Session

Tech Session & Gathering on Saturday 01/22 9am until finished.

Looks like the long range forecast is looking dry for the next 2 weeks here in Norcal and Roger needs a service done on his RT. I'll be looking at a few things on my LT also. If time allows I fire up the BBQ for lunch and I'm sure there's lots of coffee and beer to be had around here. So if you need any service, minor work or just want a place to ride to come on down. Also if you have anything to sell or swap bring it along with ya, I have a collection of good used or new parts and clothing that could use a good home.

PM for address and phone number. The location is in Brentwood on Hwy 4, take a nice river ride down 160 from the North, Hwy 4 from the west or east and Vasco rd from the South. Ride safe.

1. John - LT work
2. Roger - RT service

HELP!
Looking for anyone in the NorCal area that know how to take the fuel rail and throttle bodies off an LT. I have a leaky breather hose on top of the engine I need to get to.

Thanks

I'll bring hammer and flatbar, that ought to get it out of the way.

I've read you do not need to remove rail, long nose pliers or forceps seem to be the recommendation.
Some also build a manifold to replace the failed part and reroute the hoses.

I went to A&S to buy the parts I needed ($250.) and got to spend some time with Chuck. Ted was busy with a paying customer and just ignored us. How dare he. Thanks for the use of your leather gloves Ted.

Thanks John for all your hard work. Thanks Cathy for all your support and such a great lunch. And thanks to Gage for the use of his bed.

Still looking for the last screw hole Doug. I think it rolled under your tire.

Oh, and John had an old (new) windscreen that fit my RT. It's like a brand new bike now.

Re: Mid Winter Tech Session

John is a bad man. A bad, bad man. He made my bike run so it wouldn't stop. It just kept wanting to go. I took the long way home from your house and got home in plenty of time for the second game. It runs great. Sounds great. The air even smells better now. And it looks so pretty with the new windscreen, tank bag and new Joe Rocket jacket. You're a bad, bad man.

Thanks again John. I love your place and Cathy is really mellow, just like you, to put up with a psychic drain like me. I'll see you on Tuesday for lunch and bring you your LT part from A&S.

Re: Mid Winter Tech Session

Thanks Roger and it was great to have everyone over on a nice 70 degree winter day. We did get to the LT late in the day and managed to move the throttle rail out of the way enough to remove and find some small leaks in the crank case breather tube. New one waiting for pick up at A&S.
See Ya down the road.

Wink Re: Mid Winter Tech Session

John, sounds like ya had a great Tech Session buddy! On the subject of cracked breather hoses, I had the same problem on my LT recently also. The Bike seemed to have an irregular miss only at idle. Almost like a plug misfiring, but it was the vacuum leak evidently. The real problem on mine however was not just the breather hose, but also a cracked boot that goes between the Throttle Bodies (TB's) and the engine! I could not see it until I actually lifted the TB's completely off the engine in order to clean them up from all the grime, which I thought was due to the breather hose. Turns out that the reason it was so grimy around the #2 TB was that boot being cracked! I would say to take a real good look in there while you at least have them loosened, if not off, just to be sure!

Re: Mid Winter Tech Session

LT Update:
Roger came by for lunch at work today and dropped off the new CC breather tube ( Thanks Roger). So after work I installed the tube and re-installed the throttle rail. Then the air box, all of the clamps seemed to snug up without issue - just very time consuming. I kept checking the throttle linkage to be sure nothing was binding. Last came the fuel tank, slipped it on and hooked up the quick disconnects.
So a quick TPS sync and then the start up try............................................... ..

It fired Right Up, smooth as silk. Yah!
I have no idea how that happened.
