Easy SS1000

For those of you who wanted to go with Brian and Hoss on their SS1000 but couldn't, there is a group SaddleSore being sponsored by the River City Beemers on July 24th. This one is easy, so to speak, because if we get at least 10 riders going, have some one (me) signing them in at the start and the end (A&S BMW), with some one (Phil W.) signing them at the turn around point (Wendover, UT) there is no need for the riders to keep fuel receipts or a log. This makes it as easy as it can be for the riders as all you have to do is ride (at your own pace) and pay the $45 for the certificate, pin and license plate frame, RCB will mail in the forms together. We are calling this the RCB UBS1000, or Utah Beer Sucks 1000. The story being that a rider once rode to Wendover from Sacramento, tasted their beer, said it sucked, and rode home in the same day.Probably not quite true, but it sounds good. Further details can be seen at www.rcbforum.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1385.

Re: Easy SS1000

That's funny .... after reading about Hoss's and Brian's trip was thinking an easier ... yea right ... 1000 miles would be Hwy 50 over to Utah and back.

Watch out in July for the Mormon Cricket migration that will grease the road for miles with dead and feeding crickets !!

Ask me how I know ..... 3 years ago just east of Austin NV top of the hill ..
O'shit slow down !!

Well if I can figure a way to make it a BB "gold" I may just be there... What else is there to do? Stay at home with the wife and kid? Mow the lawn?

Well, you can go on to Mountain View Wyoming and turn around for a BBG 1500, but you would lose the advantage of the group not needing gas receipts, and there are more strict requirements for the BBG documentation. If you can wait a year until around next June 21 (longest daylight hours), Phil and I would probably do a BBG 1500 with you.

Steve:

Congrats on the SS1000. I have done only one ride that was similar. In the morning we never thought we were doing to try it but ended up going from Ely Nevada to Seattle in the middle of August.

It was the hottest I have ever been and I know I had heat stroke around "Burns Junction" Its in the middle of no where and the name fits LOL. We did it in under 18 hrs and we stopped for lunch and dinner etc etc. We never knew we were going all the way until we had dinner in Pendelton Oregon. Great roads around the John Day area if you guys have never been there!!

I wish I would have documented that one.
