There are 4 parts to this video. Pretty intense.

Thumbs up Re: Running the Dragon Kawi H2 750

Read somewhere that the Dragon is closed.
It was sure fun to ride, even on my GS with TKC's.
It's amazing how many corners have skid marks going straight off into the brush !!
Guess that's why the "Tree of Shame" has such a good selection of spare parts.

There was a rockslide that blocked it, but they are in the process of cleaning it up and getting it reopened. It may be open to auto and bike traffic now.

Re: Running the Dragon Kawi H2 750

I had one of those damn H2s back in '77. It handled like a dog but was scary fast. I didn't keep it long.

My first trip on the Dragon was on a '76 Suzuki GT-750 in 2003. It was that trip that led to the LT in my life but that's another story.
They don't know when it will open, the road is clear but all the rocks above it are unstable and could go at any minute. 90% of the Dragon is on the TN side and TN has barricaded the road at the border with NC. There is talk of maybe July when it will open again.

Back about that time I had a 900 Kaw & a friend of mine had one of those triples. He wanted to ride my 900, so I switched with him for about 20 miles. Then made him give it back. That thing was like riding on a torpedo with no stirrups. So then he wanted to run me.
He could stay with me through the 1/8, but after that I was pulling away.

From www.dealsgap.com:

"MONDAY 12 APRIL 2010 THE DRAGON WILL BE OPEN AT 8 AM.
Ok gang great news.....it is official well all but the lawyer to say ok. TDOT will build a fence at the state line with a gate. They will open the Dragon for use from 8am until 8pm from the NC side only. There is still no way to get past the slide so you will have to turn around after the Dragon and return. Two THP will patrol as well as Graham county EMS will be the medical support."
