Good looking bike Dan! AND you still have a "legitimate" reason to wear your chaps.

Let's see, last year it was me, then Steve, then me again, then you, then Nathan, then Nathan again, now you again. I'm gonna skip a round or two, I hope.

I was trying to add my name to that list, but apparently no one wants a K1200S with 43,000 miles on it, so I wasn't able to make the deal on the '08 GT I wanted.

I know what you mean. My '07 GT just turned 115K, so I figure it's probably worth about $400 or so . . .

Re: Another disturbance in the force

Well, Ted did it again. He was able to work his magic on my trade and Randy went over and above (again!) for me to make this deal, so I'm now the proud owner of a 2009 R1200RT. I know I'll miss the power of my S and the luxury of my LT but I found I was missing my original RT more than I imagined. This is the bike I can see taking me into my retirement. Thanks again Ted.

Thanks Dan, Ted really did a great job getting this deal together for me. As for a ride, we may be pre-riding April's club ride this Friday, going to Tamalpais State Park and back and checking out where to eat once we're there. If you can, come on along, or if not you can always go on the 3rd.

Re: Another disturbance in the force

I'm going to look at this bike tomorrow morning. Only a couple hours away. 2000 BMW R1100RT

I've been looking mostly for an RT but had considered a couple other options. It's priced a little high but I will instinctively try for a lower amount. I will get to ride it and give it a once over. Anything I should know about this year?

I recently just got back from Cornelius, NC to visit my n+n and son. I drove down there in my Passatt on a Wednesday morning starting at 2:30am 'till 8pm that night. Seventeen and a half hours going 1075 miles. A couple days later, I flew to Vegas for an old company reunion for four days. Colby drove and accompanied me to the events. I then flew back to NC and stayed another week on Lake Norman. Took a chance and drove over to cccpastorjack's church and met him and his cool wife. I was very impressed with him and his church. We agreed to ride when next visiting the area. Saddleman too. Both avid riders.

Thanks in advance for any buying insight.

Alternator belts - replace it with the upgraded one BMW has and carry an extra one.
Make sure it shifts well, does not ping on acceleration or surges at a steady speed.

Nice looking RT!

Thanks John. I will be alert about that stuff. I have just been reading comments about that particular year bike on different sites including AdventureRider. It seems to be a very popular year and I didn't read of anyone not liking the bike. Except maybe a little boring and heavy around town. Puuuuleeeeease. I'm currently riding a 1978 Naked Honda Goldwing.

Re: Another disturbance in the force

It's too much for me dang it. But thanks for the link. I really can't spend over $5-6k otd. I've seen at least a dozen well equipped, low mileage RT's around the country between 7-10k on the many lists we all know about. I've been looking all over the country, too. Especially in the New England states, North Carolina or the Bay Area. But when one pops up just 2 hours away, it definately gets my attention. The last one in Maine was 2 weeks ago and it sold for $5k in 2 days. It was a '99RT w/ 30k miles.

Re: Another disturbance in the force

I bought the 2000 1100RT. I will pick it up tomorrow. I just couldn't pass on it. He went down in price too. It was a lot cleaner than I imagined. He bought it a year ago in Florida with 26k miles on it and put another 7k on it with his wife last year in Maine. She wants a big Harley Road King to ride on like her friends.

It has been maintained well by him and the dealer. All black and shiny and new looking. He let me take it for an hour or so to go to Booth Bay Harbor. I will need a taller shield and a few other things to make it comfortable.

Now I can plan some trips. I will probably not make it back in CA for the Cambria trip. More like the end of May.

It's been 34 months since I've had a BMW. Last year on this date, I bought the old Honda. I put 5500 miles on it in 4 months of riding last season. Never really going too far from home. Now I can leave for days again. I'm back.

I'm back.
Damn nice bike Roger, ride it out here!!!

Re: Another disturbance in the force

Here's some pictures.

Picked it up today at noon. Here it is sitting in his garage.

He's also selling his house: Here's a couple pics from near his garage.

He only wants $695k for it.

Here's a couple more pictures leaving his house on route 1 looking at Wiscasset. My sister and I stopped to eat in town. I had to thank her for the ride to get my bike.

And at the dock with my new bike only 1 hour mine.

I rode it home from there back to Dover, about 95 miles. I think I like it. It has a lot of potential for me. I can now see clearly again.

As far as riding back there, you betcha. Reason number 2 or 3 that I returned to BMW's. I forget the 1st one. Oh yeah, I miss you guys.

Nice bike, Roger, Congrats!

Did you eat at Big Red's in Wiscasset? Voted Best Lobster Roll in the US, I grazed on one when I was hanging out up there a couple of years ago. Looks like you might be across the street from it in that last picture.

Big Red's hasn't opened for the season yet. So we ate across the street.
