Re: Disturbance in the Force

Those Triumph Tigers looked like really fun bikes, I saw one at street vibrations. I saw your GS for sale on craigslist. That sold fast. The buyer for my GS had to fly in from out of state so I had to wait a few days before he could plan the the trip out here. I am luving my new ST, once I can get the suspension figured out otherwise it will be back to a beemer.

Hmmm, if I am guessing Dan, your new bike will be the automatic Aprilla with push button shifting. Am I warm? My second guess would be a WeeStrom.

Not warm at all. I didn't realize you sold yours already too. It is not a secret what I am planning, just it isn't available yet. Unless something changes, this is what it will be:

Re: Disturbance in the Force

Congrats on the new to be GS. I was eyeing those myself. I would love one of those as a second bike.

I had to sell the GS in order to buy the ST1300. I cant have more than one at a time. The 1150GS was a very fun bike but I need a sport touring bike for the type of riding and long distances I do. I missed the fairing and 4 cylinders.

Re: Disturbance in the Force

Several 650's and one 800 have shown up at my local dealership. I rode an 08 650 gs around the Alps two weeks ago and loved it way more than I thought I could. You will love it. I could actually see having a 650/800gs as my primary or only bike.

I believe I saw one with your name on it at A&S yesterday. It was in the prep room towards the street. There was one this color and another black and gray. I "thought" the black and gray had your name on it???? No?

Sure is fine looking machine in a reasonable size. There were some 650GS as well but I believe they were all presold(800s too) in various stages of assembly. Very nice!

Was, but I passed on it cause I hadn't sold the other bike to get the money. So someone else gets that one, but (I am told) another one will be along in a week or two.

Another Convert

The guy who purchased the 1150GS called me yesterday. He owns an Aprilia Tuono and a GXXR 750. Both he and his wife ride.

He said they both are in love with the BMW and sold the GXXR.

Another convert.

Re: Disturbance in the Force

Here is a great post about the F800GS on ADV. Answers to a lot of real world questions.

Sample:

Quote:
Stock gearing - I have heard a couple of people stating that 1st gear is not quite low enough, I didn't notice it so it might be being a bit picky. It was absolutely fine for me, didn't even notice. That is one of the downsides of the internet, there are quite a few "known generalizations" that circulate enough that everyone begins to repeat them and they quickly become "known fact". If you don't read about it, you would likely never notice. For highway use, 6th is perfectly fine and you can run at much higher speeds without thinking twice about it. Yes, the rpm will get up there a bit and the gas mileage will fall, but you will not feel like you are flogging the poor thing like when you wind up your KLR for long periods. As an example, I would ride at 140 if I was trying to make a border and didn't all feel that the bike was the limiting factor, I more so felt the additional wind was the limiting factor, ie. very bearable but for long distance the additional wind and noise begins to wear you down. I'm not sure I ever had the KLR at 140 except maybe to pass some psycho trucker.
That probably is one of the biggest selling points of this bike, the 800 really is the perfect compromise for engine size to enable you to do offroad and highway riding.
Link

BTW, Dave says the bike showed up in inventory so maybe next week?

OK, enough already, unless you are going to get one for everybody or untill it arrives so we all can ride it.

I see a "Ponderizing" comming in the near future.

And look, there's even a spot in the garage for it.

I picked it up Saturday AM. There was another one there with bags on it. I am waiting to get Jesse's. Several people told me they licked the hand grips but I bought it anyway.
