Thumbs up Fort Bragg Ride Weekend! - October 4-5

It's that time again! I have most of the details together for the ride to Fort Bragg for this year. Here's the scoop so far -

Dates: Saturday & Sunday, October 4-5

Hotel:

Travelodge (same location as past years, just part of the chain now)
763 N Main St
Fort Bragg, CA 95437
707-964-4787

We have a block of 30 rooms, including -

17 - 2 double beds at $79
10 - 1 King bed at $65
2 - 2 bedroom mini-suites (2 separate bedrooms with 1 bed in each) with a sitting area at $ $89
1 - Family Suite, 2 bedrooms, 1 with 2 doubles and 1 with 1 double, at $94

Reservations can be made starting today. Tell the desk agent you are with the David Taylor Party to get these rates. The cutoff for getting rooms in our block is September 3rd. After that the block will be released and go back to their normal rates.

Lunch:

Tony's Seafood Restaurant
18863 Highway 1
Marshall, CA;
415-663-1107

We'll meet here for lunch at 11:30 a.m. They will open early to seat us so we don't have to wrestle with the regular lunch crowd. Best BBQ'd oysters anywhere, I swear!

Dinner:

North Coast Brewery Tap Room, 6:30 p.m.

We may have a special menu for the group if we get enough people, but otherwise we'll just be able to order off the regular menu. They've added some more beef selections and are getting their steaks from Brandt Beef (not that the previous steaks were slouches, great prime rib!), which produces some very high quality meats. I'll post an update later once we have a headcount and I finalize things with the restaurant.

And yes, they still have all the fantastic beer you could want!

Rides To and From:

Everyone pretty much does their own thing going and coming. Some folks get together and ride up and/or back, but this isn't an organized group ride where we all meet and go together in a big gaggle. This gives folks the flexibility to choose routes, stops, etc., and ride at their own pace, which keeps everyone safe and happy. Basically you know when and where lunch is, and when and where dinner is, and the riding part you get to choose and enjoy as you see fit! I'll be happy to post a Garmin file with the various stops and even some suggested routes if folks would like some suggestions. Just let me know.

That's all the news that fits for now. I'll start an attendee list on this thread, so please add your name (and your guests of bringing others) to it so I can give the restaurants a final headcount as we get closer to the weekend. We've had a lot of fun on this ride every year, let's keep up the good times!

I hope to see you all there!!

Coming from L.A. we'll most likely spend Friday night somewhere near San Jose. Meet for dinner?
Also for new comers, it is cash only at Tony's.

Excellent! I'll add you to the list! Let me know who else is coming so I have the right headcount for dinner. You have about 6-7 weeks to figure that one out, though.

Re: Fort Bragg Ride Weekend! - October 4-5

Hi David.

Hwy. 1 will be very busy with BMW motorcycles that weekend. River City Beemers will be doing our annual Manchester Beach Campout that very same weekend.

RCB will start to arrive at the KOA in Manchester on Friday 10/3/2008 and will be departing on Sunday 10/5/2008. Last year we had over 100 attend the weekend festivities, and this year should be no different.

I have no doubt that we will bump into you all in either Mendocino or Ft. Bragg at some point during the weekend. If coordinated, this could make for a great BMW / MOA photo op?

Take care,

Phil Sweeney

Re: Fort Bragg Ride Weekend! - October 4-5

What a great ride and get together. The usual suspects were there as well as some new ones.

There were some tall tales over dinner and drinks as well as some lies.

We got liucky on the way up and didn't get rained on on Saturday. The ride back today was slow in some sections due to slow pokes and spirited in others.

Thanks Dave for organizing this again.

Thanks everyone for a great weekend.

Re: Fort Bragg Ride Weekend! - October 4-5

I just want to say a big THANK YOU!! to everyone who came on the Fort Bragg ride. It was a lot of great riding, great food, and great friends. Oh, the beer was OK, too. I trust everyone made it home safe and sound. I'm already looking forward to next year. And Cambria in the spring, too!

Thanks again, you are all why this ride is so much fun!!

Thumbs up Re: Fort Bragg Ride Weekend! - October 4-5

A big "Thank You" to David for putting this together.

We leisurely cruised through Napa on Sunday, spent Sunday night in Santa Cruz, and worked our way back to Van Nuys on Monday riding Hwy1 almost all the way home.
